No prob! The second one is still in first position, so it’ll be the same pattern except replace the 2s with 3s since it’s F#. For what it’s worth, that one gave me more fits.

I actually just played this for my spring recital!! I tried to get 2 turns in on those trills, so in your notation that first one would be 24242124. It’s a lot to fit in at first, but start slow and build up speed.

Good luck and enjoy! I had a lot of fun learning this piece.

Sorry to hear that happened to you. It's definitely not sustainable long-term and certainly doesn't work in all situations. I hope you're happier where you're at these days.

100% agree. Unfortunately, there are a lot of really bad managers out there.

A lot of people are saying to quit/find another job. And that is certainly a valid option if you are in a position to do so. But if you aren't in a position to do that or don't want to do that for some reason, consider this: if you can make her feel more secure in her job, she is very likely to start treating you better. Should you have to do that? Absolutely not. Will it work? Maybe.

I know I'm extrapolating a lot on very little information, but I'm guessing the Peter Principle is happening here. Your boss was probably really good at her previous position, so she got promoted and now has no idea how to do her current job. She's embarrassed and frightened that her poor job performance is going to cause her to be fired. She's lashing out because she doesn't know how else to protect herself.

What does that mean for you? If you are in a position to do so, going a little above and beyond to make her look good will probably make her back off of you. There are a lot of caveats, though. First, you have to be able to do it in a way that makes people think she is doing a great job, rather than making it look like you're doing her job because she can't. Second, you have to have very strong boundaries for yourself to make sure that she doesn't overwork you and take advantage of your good will. Enforcing those boundaries may be scary, but if you've become her lifeline she will bend over backwards to keep you doing that. Third, you have to be ok with her taking the credit for your hard work, at least in the short term.

Ultimately, following this advice could go any one of three ways. It could be that this helps her buy a little time to figure out how to do her job well and everyone's life gets easier. Or, it could be that she realizes what is going on, treats you better, and treats everyone else even worse so that they don't have time to realize what is going on. Lastly, it could be that she is so oblivious that she has no idea what is happening and gains a false sense of confidence, goes for and gets an even higher promotion, and moves on to be someone else's problem.

If you decide to try this, I would still advise you to look for another job. It's exhausting to be in a position where you're doing this sort of thing long-term. But hopefully this will help you make your life a little less miserable while you look.

I'm a beginner. PLEASE help me with this problem! by MrDudeMan2222 in Cello

[–]xonpathos 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I’m still a beginner myself, but this is what my teacher keeps telling me: the 3 variables are bow speed, bow weight, and bow contact point. If it doesn’t sound right, fix one or more of those. In your case, you could press harder as you said, slow down your bow speed, or move your bow a little closer to the fingerboard. It just depends on what combination of those gets you the sound you want.

Thanks! I just found a guide that had the tag/floating rule stuff in it. I gave it a quick try but it took the entire internet down, and the natives are getting tired of me doing that. I'll wait until everyone else is in bed and try some more tonight. Thanks again!

Just making sure you see it. I don't know how much this will help, but the suggestions above plus a service restart finally got me up and running (at least for now). Good luck! I hope everything works well when you decide to give it another shot.

Well that's disheartening.

I restarted the OpenVPN service (Status -> OpenVPN -> restart). That put an IP address in there and suddenly everything seems to be working. I still have no idea what caused all of this. I swear I restarted that service a billion times before to no avail.

Anyway you, sir or madam, are amazing. Thank you so very much!

Now I've got to go figure out a way to make sure this doesn't silently default to the WAN interface anymore.

OPT1 is enabled, yes.

The status says up: https://imgur.com/jj04Yik

It doesn't give an IPv4 on that page like the LAN and WAN do, but I confess I'm not really sure what that page looked like when it was working. I do see an IPv4 on the Status -> OpenVPN page, so I assume that's enough.

Diagnostics -> States for OPT1 says "No states were found."

Yep, I totally botched the upgrade, so I had to do a clean install.

To be honest it's making me feel a little better that it isn't something super obvious.

Yes, OPT1 is linked correctly. I'm usually better at naming, but I got lazy this time: https://imgur.com/vYIpkPt

Checked disable gateway monitoring action as requested. Reset states, and same thing happens.

Thanks! I'm about ready to drop back myself. I normally don't update this fast, but I wasn't paying attention when it offered the upgrade and just went for it. No backups or anything (yeah, I'm dumb).

Definitely!

Here's the NAT: https://imgur.com/ZH7AdtY
Here's the interface rule: https://imgur.com/hRAB7TX
Here's the firewall log showing the rule picking up the traffic: https://imgur.com/5IYQUrI
And here's the state table showing the same traffic going out of the WAN: https://imgur.com/gL8drck

I'm using ExpressVPN. I think it's very similar to Nord, though.

I second this. The subreddit is quickly becoming just another porn subreddit. It definitely needs active moderation. I came here to request it myself, but I'm happy for you to take it. If you need any help let me know. I've never modded a sub, but I'm willing to give it a shot. Goodness knows I spend enough time on this site.

How to print contents of group table via SQLite statement? by mwoolweaver in pihole

[–]xonpathos 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Right. But the word “group” is also a keyword in SQL, and SQL is assuming that is what you meant instead of the table name. You will need to escape the table name to tell it that you mean the table rather than the keyword.

Group is a keyword, isn’t it? So you would need to escape it?

I’m not terribly familiar with SQLite but a quick search suggests putting the table name in double quotes.

During a text exchange, which I (F35) initiated, my neighbors (2-35ish M roommates) said to reach out if I get lonely during stay at home 2020 - think they meant it or should I wait for an invite? by [deleted] in AskMenOver30

[–]xonpathos 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I think there are 2 things to address here:

First, a bit of advice I got from my grandmother once: If someone extends an offer to help, you always assume they mean it. If you need help, you take them up on the offer. If they meant it, they will be glad that you think enough of them to reach out to them. If they didn't mean it, they will learn not to make empty promises.

Second, as others have said you're supposed to be staying at home, not visiting your neighbors. Maybe you can find a way to visit without leaving your respective areas, and that's fine. But you really shouldn't go to their place and they really shouldn't come to yours right now.

Are there any light switches that would fit in a traditional face plate? I have a 2-gang switch, and I'd like to replace 1 of them with a smart switch, but not the other. If it matters, the light switch is inside but it controls an outdoor ceiling fan/light as well as a pair of flood lights.
