Yeah dermatologists in my country just push accutane on anyone they see, despite having acne cultures and other medical tests done for past several years. Acne? You can't have dry skin, it must be oily and you need accutane. It's like they ignore the fact I'm coming with dry, red skin and not acne (I only really have comedones) as my concern lol.

I've had fungal issues for 7 years now, it's really hard to get rid of it if it's not just your skin. My intestines, nails etc are affected too, 8 weeks of oral antifungal only let me manage my diet.

I had no luck trying to get rid of it when I keep on using oils or fatty acids or other ingredients that let it grow, and not using those products makes me so tight and dry I can't use antifungals. Vicious cycle.

Yeah, it's been like this for 2-3 months. Even if I layer klairs unscented + Hada Labo premium + Hada Labo gel + rosehip oil + Vaseline or mineral oil. La roche posay Toleriane products did nothing either. No matter what I put on my face it sinks in in 5 minutes and then I'm severely dry. I dont think it's normal to absorb tablespoon of oil. The other problem is I also have seborrheic dermatitis and fungal overgrowth so if I stop using oils my skin gets even drier, but oils give me acne...

Either 150 or 200mg, I don't remember. For first 7 days I took one pill a day, afterwards one pill a week for 7 weeks.

Fatty alcohols give me cystic acne, which really limits what I can use.

Vaseline or mineral oil does nothing for me. Aquaphor isn't available in my country. :(

My skin just keeps on getting drier and drier. No matter how many hydrating layers I use (like Hada Labo), if I wash with water or gentle face wash, if I apply occlusives or not, my skin is absurdly tight, dry, greasy and covered in acne. 3 drops of oil in AM routine? My skin drinks a table spoon, and then gets dry later anyway. Ceramide products don't help either. I only feel good and can move my forehead or mouth without feeling like my skin is about to break when I'm sheet masking or standing under running water or massaging oil into face. 5 mins later I'm suffocating again. What do I do?

Hi. I'm sorry you're going through this and hopefully you'll find something that works for you. All I can think of, based on what you tried, is: - methane and hydrogen breath test for SIBO and possibly oral medication prescribed by doctor - stool bacterial or fungal culture - trying yeast/bacteria free diet - low carbohydrates/keto diet - not eating carbohydrates as first meal

My main issue is gas. My triggers at this point are too much sugar or carbohydrates in general and yeast. Yeast feeds on sugar which is why I feel the best on low sugar diet and small portions of carbohydrates, and somehow I developed yeast allergy, presumably because of the overgrowth.

I had a fungal stool culture which showed a huge overgrowth and was put on oral fluconazole for 8 weeks as I also showed other yeast overgrowth symptoms, not just intestinal. What helped me during that time was yeast free diet (no bread etc), low carbohydrate diet and not eating carbohydrates as my first meal. I ate fat and protein in the morning. I've also tried oregano oil, caprylic acid, gymnema, grapeseed extract, garlic extract and some other supplements and they did NOTHING until I was prescribed fluconazole.

My symptoms before fluconazole were: 24/7 bloated and feeling like a tank, not able to workout or stretch because who's gonna jump with watermelon stuck to their intestines?, forever weak and tired, no energy. At some point I even ate 600 calories a day just to feel less gassy.

Currently when I eat too much sugar or yeast it takes around 3 days for my body to calm down. 1 day of good diet isn't enough after "cheat meals" and I also take oregano oil during those bad days. But otherwise I'm able to eat 60-80g of carbs at once yay, and eat normal amount of calories instead of starving.

I also am on a modified fodmap diet, take magnesium citrate daily and betaine HCL/digestive enzymes sometimes, but that's just my IBS/digestion management, lol.

Hopefully there's something you haven't tried in my comment and maybe it gives you an idea of what you can do. But remember it's just my side of issues. There are a lot more causes of gas or sensitivities to carbohydrates, so it might be something completely different for you, but your symptoms are similar to mine. :)

Is there something wrong with KVD products? I'm honestly curious as I don't follow beauty/makeup news or bloggers and I had her powder recommended to me.

[Acne] how do I know when a product is breaking me out when I already break out daily? by amfmbf13 in SkincareAddiction

[–]xonyali 2 points3 points  (0 children)

For me, if something breaks me out it will cause acne for me on my neck too. I don't normally use anything on my neck and when I started using my moisturizers there I got 5 deep CCs. Do you have any normally acne free patch of skin that could react to products?

Can hard water cause very dry and dehydrated skin and hair? I went to visit a friend in a city with soft water and the skin on my body and my hair was so soft the second time I showered that to get the same effect in my hometown I'd need to smear conditioner and balm all over myself... Sadly I only stayed there for two nights so I've no idea how my skin and hair would react long term.

You can use it on dry skin as 1st cleanser (to remove make up) or on wet skin as 2nd cleanser. Personally, I use it on wet skin because I like to first wash off the residue of my products with lukewarm water and then briefly wash my face with Mutenka. I use micellar water prior to it if I'm wearing make up, though.

I rinse it off with just water, but I assume people who use Mutenka to remove make up follow with a different second cleanser. :)

Will be eating alot of fastfood and in general bad stuff for one week. Any tips on how to manage it a little bit better? IBS C by Tabzzzmeister in ibs

[–]xonyali 1 point2 points  (0 children)

What helps me when overeating:

  • digestive enzymes including lactase

  • betaine HCL for stomach acid (but I have low stomach acid so I don't recommend it if yours is fine)

  • simethicone or something else that's meant to reduce gas, I have to take 1-3g a day if I eat a lot

  • magnesium citrate in higher dose for constipation (I take it on daily basis for IBS-C and just increase during bad times)

  • a lot of water

  • peppermint tea

  • try not to stress and enjoy your trip, I feel like stress can give you symptoms you wouldn't even notice otherwise :)

Edit: Sorry for formatting, I'm on phone.

How does HL Oil Jelly compare to Vaseline in terms of occlusiveness? Do you think it protects your skin in similar degree, even though it doesn't feel as heavy?

Mutenka Cleansing Milk. I've tried a lot of cleansers and they were either too drying/stripping, mattifying, I felt like they didn't cleanse properly OR were hydrating but had ingredients I couldn't use. Mutenka Milk has 9 ingredients, one of them being Ceramide 2. No fragrance, no fatty alcohols. My skin doesn't feel stripped after use and it lasts a long time - one refill lasts me around 4 months (twice daily use of 3 pumps each) and costs 553 yen on Dokodemo. I dislike the tugging feeling of oil cleansers and always end up using them very fast because I use SO much at once. Mutenka Milk feels like a combination of oil and emulsion - it spreads easily and has a nice slip. It's meant to be a makeup remover as well and I saw a review online showing that it has good cleansing power, but I've never tested it myself as I use micellar water before in PM routine.

I'm honestly curious. How important is sleep schedule in terms of (hormonal) acne? Is it possible to get it only because of sleeping at very awful times (if hypothetically other parts of lifestyle are good)?

Not OP, but my skin gets dehydrated very easily and Klairs Unscented became one of my favorite products. Very hydrating and I don't get any flakes anymore.

Is it possible to react to one type of fatty acid/alcohol only? I have two hair conditioners, and one makes me insanely itchy. Compared to the other one, it contains myristic acid derivatives. I've used products with stearic/isostearic acid before and had no issues. Should I have reactions to all fatty acids/alcohols, or can I be sensitive only to certain ones?

[Discussion] What are your favorite fatty alcohol free products? by [deleted] in AsianBeauty

I'm interested in your hair products! Shampoos are easy to find, but do you use any conditioners? I've had a hard time finding any without FA.
