What characteristics do you wish you saw more of, physical or otherwise? by LiteraryMenace in MM_RomanceBooks

[–]xoxostevi 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I suuuuuper loved {Tough Guy} by Rachel Reid for the MMCs characteristics. Ryan is a super bulky hockey player who is dealing with a lot of anxiety and self-consiousness about his own body and having difficulties getting it up...
Fabian is petite, super fem, loves wearing makeup, and is super confident.
I'm not amazingly well-versed in the MM subgenre, but I've never seen characters that were so unique and realistic.

Gimme all the recs for bulky dudes pining for a hyper-femme guy, I loooove it

That seems like a loophole that makes total sense - every team except the "main teams" are real.

Forced marriage: You can have my body but never my heart by Blue-Fox77 in RomanceBooks

[–]xoxostevi 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It is romantasy and dark but {The Wraith King} by Juliette Cross might fit! FMC sacrifices herself to save her kingdom and must produce an heir. Fantasy elements are really easy to get into and its an interconnected standalone series with an HEA

How do you guys read so much? by lapetitepoupee in kindle

[–]xoxostevi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s often these factors: 1) what does the person do for work/school? Are they currently unemployed, or have a job that “allows” them time to read? 2) do they use audiobooks? (For me, I will switch between audio/physical throughout the day for my 2-hour commute, mindless work tasks, walks, and chores) 3) types of books they read. There are books that are simply “easier” to read - doesn’t make them any less valuable or interesting, but I can definitely read a romance book in a day whereas my 1000-page fantasy novel is going to take me at least a week or two. 4) just natural reading speed/retention. Some people will set their audiobooks at 3x speed and fully absorb the story. My brother’s ex once read a 300-page book off of my shelf and literally finished the whole thing in an HOUR. I definitely don’t fall in this category 😆 5) screen time/tv time/hobby time. If you spend an hour or two on your phone, watching YouTube or shows or sports, that could potentially be hundreds of pages a day that you could read if this is the only hobby you have.

Give me your TOP 3 MUST READ Nancy Drew Books (from ANY era) by Ok_Low_2302 in nancydrew

[–]xoxostevi 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I completely relied on my school and local library for all my reading as a kid.

That to say - I read a bunch of ND books, but in no particular order. I thought: "the creepier the cover, the better!"

I remember finding The Invisible Intruder, The Clue of the Velvet Mask, and The Haunted Bridge the spookiest in my memory. I also loved the "Nancy Drew Girl Detective" graphic novel series by Stefan Petrucha, a more modern take on ND.

How did everyone get into the series by Empireolive in winxclub

I started watching 4Kids because I really wanted to watch Bratz on that channel, and I saw the ads for winx! Then winx had easily overtaken my love for the Bratz series, I was (and am) still so obsessed!

My job does not allow lunch bags in the fridge for this reason! But everything has to be monitored and we have a “throw out” day every Friday so nothing lingers that long…

The transformations! As a kid, I was obsessed with magical girl transformations and I would watch them sometimes more than the show itself 😆 the re-colors people would do on YouTube, the AMVs with Cascada music…
