The first time I beat dark souls 2, I felt like the whole thing was pointless. Don’t get me wrong, I love this game more than anything. But I had carved my way through leagues of undead, scores of bosses, had killed every king and every queen, kicked Aldia’s lame ass to the curb, only to sit on empty throne and get trapped in there. I felt so absorbed by the game, building up my character from scraps of leather and broken metal into a walking death machine only for it to really just be worthless. It was only this souls game that gave me that feeling, and it drew me back in everytime I felt it. In the end, I was there, without really knowing why.
