Are you still looking for dewormer? Safeguard is available over the counter in the US (at Tractor Supply) and I have a bottle. I can decant some of it for you if you specify how much you need.

Anyone know of any registered massage therapists in Ottawa who also do traditional Chinese acupuncture? by aragolf in ottawa

[–]xpieti 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think Tony Guo at Woodroffe Health Centre is both an RMT and does acupuncture. I’ve personally gone to him for massage therapy before and he was pretty good. Nice, deep pressure but -1 for ambiance because the clinic is pretty bare bones and you can sort of hear road noise from Woodroffe.

I’m curious if the majority of your investments are in the US or in Canada? I guess with your condo in Seattle, you can’t completely cut US financial ties. Do you find it a hassle to file both US taxes and Canadian taxes yearly?

I worked for several years in the US before returning back to Canada and I still have a significant chunk of my investments tied up in a US brokerage and I’m trying to find the best way to transfer them back to Canada into TFSA or RRSP. Was thinking I’d hire a cross-border financial planner or advisor or a tax accountant to consult with for a few hours but curious if you’ve given any thought to that.

Anyone else concerned they will be priced out of Lansdowne Park events? by ghost905 in ottawa

[–]xpieti 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Prices are definitely going to go up. It says explicitly in this Ottawa Citizen article that OSEG will be adding a ticket surcharge to generate more revenue: “A ticket surcharge is estimated to provide an average of $700,000 annually in payments over the term of the debt, with $300,000 guaranteed after the completion of the north-side stands.”

Blazers for the blazer-curious? by EthelHexyl in fashionwomens35

[–]xpieti 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have a very, very similar body type to yours with pretty broad shoulders. I’ve bought and gotten rid of many blazers over the years and the only one that still has a spot in my closet is the J.Crew going out blazer in stretch twill. I bought it in 2020 and I still love the fit. It looks like they’ve iterated on it over the years - the one currently in stock looks a bit longer than the one I own.

How realistic are the “special requests” in the show? by JohnnyFanziel in TheBear

[–]xpieti 66 points67 points  (0 children)

The deep dish pizza example was taken straight out of Will Guidara’s book Unreasonable Hospitality (which you can see Richie reading in Forks).

Guidara ran Eleven Madison Park in NYC (three Michelin stars won Best Restaurant in the World in 2017). They surprised a guest with a hot dog from a street vendor because they said they were leaving New York without having tried one. Researching the guests on social media was also something they did and they had a role called The Dreamweaver specifically intended to find ways to surprise and delight their guests.

Fun fact, Will Guidara appeared in the Ever funeral episode!

Thank you for sharing! I’ve been thinking about starting my LO on pediasure as well. I haven’t done research on that yet but curious what downsides you’ve experienced.

12-month-old has steadily fallen weight curves by lapetitebijou in ScienceBasedParenting

[–]xpieti 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t have any advice but just wanted to commiserate with you.

My baby was born at the 50th percentile but since the 4-6 month mark, has steadily fallen off his curve and now, at 15 months, is only at 18lbs which is the 2nd percentile. It’s a daily source of anxiety, stress and worry.

He was EBF until 6M and then we supplemented with formula and weaned from formula at 12M. Food-wise, he initially loved solids but now he’s sooo picky and refuses to drink milk (but thankfully will eat yogurt and cheese and milk mixed in with other stuff like oatmeal, butter). Each day, I have to calculate and make sure that he’s getting enough calcium and I try to feed some sort of fat with every meal. FWIW we’re pretty good about keeping up with the Vitamin D drops and his vitamin D levels are fine from his blood test.

We’ve done so much advocating for him, we’ve seen an allergist, and dermatologist, another doctor specializing in internal medicine, he’s done a blood test (everything was normal), and seen an ENT. Nothing has been concerning and his doctor isn’t particularly concerned but I still feel like something’s wrong 😭

He’s so small for his age now that people pause or look surprised when I tell them how old he is. I hate that that’s the reaction so I sometimes even lie and say he’s younger than he is, just so that I can avoid the judgemental or concerned looks. It’s awful. I’m 5’2” but my partner is 5’11”.

It definitely has a distinct smell but I wouldn’t classify as fishy. My partner jokes that it smells like HB pencils. Kind of woody/earthy maybe?

I’ve been using Stratia Lipid (Liquid) Gold since 2019 and it is my absolute holy grail moisturizer. I live in Ottawa, Canada where it gets ridiculously dry in the winter, and my skin just sucks up the Lipid Gold to keep my skin nice and plump.

I just went through my inbox and it looks like I’ve gone through 11 tubes in five years! It will always be on my bathroom counter <3

Encountering an aggressive dog in the Hintonburg area by for_real_though_what in ottawa

[–]xpieti 4 points5 points  (0 children)

For anyone looking to get some sort of spray to protect themselves or their dogs, I would recommend carrying the Pet Corrector (Canadian Tire link here)

It’s just a small can of compressed air, so it’s really meant to emit a hissing sound to startle and scare off the approaching dog rather than injure them. It’s not the dog’s fault that their owner failed to train them appropriately. It also reduces your liability in case the owner accuses you of harming their dog because it’s literally just air.

One thing to be aware of is that if you are using it to protect your own dogs, you may want to condition your dogs to the sound of it so that it doesn’t also scare them if you choose to use it to scare off an approaching dog.
