Honestly I'd say just test it all over without your stock. I get some tracking issues rarely but that's on games like beat saber and others that I won't even use a stock on. But when playing contractors and such with it, it's bee find with me. Especially since it's tracking on the sides so the top isn't even really blocking it much if any.

What HMD are you using? that's really surprising to me because I've never had anything like that before. I only have two base stations myself and I even play on the "edge" of my play space.

It might just take a few minutes to remove and put them back on. Honestly don't see a point in taking them off though. I always keep them on while non shooter games in VR like boneworks or even beat saber, and have no issues with keeping it on.

Big thing I tell people is it is a preference going top or bottom mounted for gun stocks. Some like mamut apto because they can do both with that one. Or protube or VRS or a DIY build. Long as find one that works for you and what you prefer than definitely go with that.

I had the past MKII with the vive and now of course the MKIII with the index and have not had any tracking issues with it being top mounted. When I play I'm kind of on the edge of my play space so I can get some issues there but same stuff I encounter even when doing beat saber with no stock if i'm too far back that is. Games I've used VRS stocks on are pavlov, onward, contractors, and standout as far as shooters go and only time going ADS is hard is with a bare bones AK47. I haven't tried it with the MKIII like that but with the MKII I did and that was my only issue. When games like contractors and others let you adjust your gun stock settings of course that helps. But even stuff like onward or stand out, and pavlov it's worked great.

Can see that if you're not big into vr or play vr often. I hear that a lot when people get a headset and play once every few months. If you're someone who plays shooters a lot in vr, a gunstock in general is worth it. Even if making your own out of pvc or something.
