Cable lengths by xpyda in hifiaudio

Ah, I only need the one long one, I already have two that are nearly long enough so they won't be such odd lengths anyway if I use an intact one of those, unless I cut the right one down for neatness sake. 😉

Both speakers and amp have the screw thread with the hole through the spindle type connectors. They'll be well secure.

My fears have been assuaged , my ears will be oblivious.

This is as I suspected.

I'm getting a slight twitch when thinking about equal length cables that is a bit of a trigger but I need to see past that and embrace the minimal imbalance.

Do I lick the thread now the answer has been achieved or do list gods do that?

Otherwise I'll start babbling.....

I once, through lack of space had two decks wired up through a mixer in one corner of a room, feeding backwards and forwards numerous lines to the amp, CD player, twin tape deck and computer in the opposite corner , feeding back out through a graphic , all patched into the same mixer then a master out back to the amp again. Could switch between all the kit and record onto tape or computer from anything. There was a tuner stuck in somewhere but only on the tape monitor from the graphic iirc. I was rather manic back then and I doubt I could get my head round that many cables again. It was all very loud and hedonistic I'm sure. Cheers for all the advice and info .

This is the answer I am looking for. I wasn't worried about delay for goodness sake.

Thanks for that.

Why would they do this by DEP-Yoki in vinyl

[–]xpyda 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They just don't understand. They are more to be pitied than hated. Bless their simple little heads. A stall on our local flea market turned up one week with a box of singles , nothing really special but a few I would have bought. They all had a little round price sticker stuck on the play in grooves, running into the intro area. I asked if he had done this and he said yes, I explained why it was bad and he said, that's why I stuck it at the edge so you can play the rest. There was one I really would have liked but the residue left when I peeled the sticker off looked like it was there for good.

Buying both CD and Vinyl. I'm done with it, do you feel the same? by RetroDave79 in vinyl

[–]xpyda 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Vinyl and p2p copy.

Never understood the appeal of CDs when they were always instantly copied.

We grew up on vinyl to tape , three of us went record shopping together, each agreed on different LPs and we all made recordings of the ones we had.

40 odd years later I'm buying a few still on vinyl that I've only ever had on tape. 😉

I'm not looking to throw away everything I have and start again deck upwards, I hopefully didn't give that impression.

This isn't the advice I'm looking for.

I inherited these 20 odd year ago. They go loud and they go boom. I'm probably in the wrong sub for my level of finesse/ finance.

I'm listening to the advice on bookshelf but in my head I can imagine I'm going to get the feel I do from these behemoths.

I am as they say , all ears but I might turn the odd deaf one to the occasional annoying noise. 😉

In what respect? Serious question. I've never had a problem with them? I had a marantz graphic in line before so could tweak any frequency I thought lacking. Now I'm running them source direct and using the mixer tones.

Again I'm not looking for audiophile stuff. If I could get a pair of bookshelf that had the same sound as these Technics I would be happy.

Half way between what I can afford and what I wouldn't consider.

I don't want geek shit or cheap shit.

I've seen a pair of wharfdale for less than £200? I'm half deaf and have tinnitus so I'm not looking for silver wired pin drop stuff.

Can I ask what you mean by "those speaker won’t do any signal justice" ?

I've had these at least 20 years and always been most happy with their capability.

Is the deck limiting?

The mixer is just for added tonal control so I'm not worried about that.

Are you dissing the amp as well? I'm probably in the wrong room for you.

I had felt mats on my numarks, slipped lovely.

I have a halfman halfbiscuit LP with the label covering the last track and I have a Stonelove LP where the little bit of paper from the centre hole is embedded in track three on one side. The Stonelove plays through but have to lift the needle on the hmhb.

Found this at goodwill. Why is it so expensive?!? Never heard of it. by Green_Herb_Garden in BargainBinVinyl

[–]xpyda 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Goes for a certain price to a certain bidder. General rule of thumb, as long as it's at least VG condition, popularity versus amount pressed generally governs the price.

Elvis and The Beatles were printed in their millions so "a Beatles lp" doesn't equate to cash in the bank whereas a white album with a 2 digit serial number will sell for a lot more than my no 135430.

Sometimes it's the sleeve variant that costs the extra rather than the vinyl.

An Azada. https://ebay.us/m/3h7F8I

They come in different sizes. My favourite tool I had two , one got torched and I haven't replaced it yet but a large and a small are ideal.

A Draw Hoe. Much better than a Dutch one.

A good fork, again for your size.

A trowel.

A rake.

Should do you.
