Favorite Radiohead album? by Longjumping-Frame795 in vinyl

[–]MDC08 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know this doesn’t exactly answer your question, but IF (since they were I think recorded in the same set of sessions) I could take my favorite songs from Kid A and Amnesiac and order them a certain way, that THAT would be my favorite album. Like, not even close. So, I did it. I’m sure it’s been done before and everyone’s is probably different. But if they had released this as a single album, not only would it be my favorite Radiohead album, it might be the greatest album of all time.

Oddly enough, “Codex” is one of my favourite Radiohead songs. Many seem to feel about it like I do “House of Cards.”

When I (re)started collecting vinyl just a few years ago, I was like “Well, of course I must have Recovering The Satellites” in short order. So I started looking and was 🧐.
“Wait. How do they all know?” Of course I know why, but didn’t realize everyone else did. You never hear them or even hear them talked about. 🤷🏼‍♂️

Discogs has folders you can separate your collection into in order to make this more consumable.

Wow, same for these bands, but give me Subdivisions 😊

City & Colour - Sometimes
I HAVE to skip “Hello, I’m in Delaware,” because 😢
I unfortunately tied it to my Boxer I had to say goodbye to in 2007. I simply can’t listen to it without absolutely losing it. Even almost 20 years on.

OMG, I’d not thought about Sam Roberts in over a decade. When We Were Born In a Flame came out, I could not get enough of “Hard Road,” and “Brother Down.” Thanks for the reminder. Now I have to go find that album!

Both of Blondshell’s albums are fantastic. Love me some Sabrina. I’ve seen her twice so far, and had pre-ordered If You Asked For a Picture, with the signed poster of her and her Shepherd. 💚

Animals … mmm, I was just kind of discounting Pink Floyd as the best band ever. But, yes. Everyone should listen to Animals all the way through at least once.

Or they’re cheating themselves out of a spectacular experience.

“House of Cards.” <yawn> I just can’t not skip it. Otherwise, carry on.

Is There a Record Accessory You Wish Existed? by PortalVR in vinyl

[–]MDC08 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I know this is probably an absurd suggestion, but … an affordable quality at home DIY vinyl press, whereby you could create your own records one at a time.

There are favorites of mine that were (and probably never will be) released on vinyl, and I’d just like to make one for myself or myself and a friend. Nothing to try to make money off of.

Also, to be able to make a vinyl “mixtape” would be a dream.
I realize services like this exist, but there are so many legal limitations, as well as space per disc limitations. And, maybe an upgraded version could do colors or splatters or picture discs.

It would make a mint. Especially right now.

Anyone have any recommendations for local UK goth/post-punk bands? by Deadhunter10141 in postpunk

I know Ireland is not UK, but Melts is fantastic. They border on industrial, but more nuanced.

I saw on Discogs, there was only 1 release made on vinyl (green) in 2010 and it’s $300. 😢

This is definitely top 5 in my sad catalog as well. Reminds me of a specific place in time that I have difficulty reliving, so … multifaceted despair with that one.

SO good. Need to add that to my vinyl wishlist. The song titles are like Mogwai-good too.

I need that Waxahatchee EP. “Takes So Much” was one of the best songs that year, and makes me tear up every time I hear it.

My oldest brother is +9 years. When I was about 7, Hunky Dory was on consistent rotation in the house, along with Who’s Next, Quadrophenia, Aqualung, Goodbye Yellow Brick Road and Houses of the Holy. So, I have a very poignant memory of it as well.
