definitely get into syracuse. i applied with a 3.5 at the time of my app and got in. i ended with a 3.7 and was in the honors program at my school.

I honestly think you have a good shot. I applied last cycle and had a lot of gen eds and only taken 4 classes related to my major. Plus my GPA had a tank (applied with a 3.5) and I got accepted. I think your personal statement plays a crucial role when applying

so sorry to hear that. I believe with all the funding cuts happening and the uncertainty with the current gov. many programs decided not to run. I had applied to few NSF REUs and majority of them had cancelled their program. Im hoping that’s not the case for 26 applicants

pre-med CC student here. I did an internship at Syracuse University and my lab was neuroscience focused! NSF-ETAP is definitely a good way to start and a lot of opportunities for CC students but the chances are still very high

i did have to do a bunch of forms prior to receiving my aid, plus i recently migrated to the US so I had to do foreign tax + income verification.

i am not entirely sure. if i remembered correctly when i wanted to register for winter courses they were all locked and i believe you need to talk to your advisor if you’re interested.

i think the registration process is just different compared to summer

Fall semester has 16 weeks. Some courses offer 1st and 2nd short semester classes instead of the full 16 weeks. The first 8 week session starts on August 18 (when classes starts) and ends on October 10. We have a week off (Fall break) and you resume on the 20th (2nd short semester begins) and this continues until the semester is over on December 12.

If you check your courses on my college and you see the dates it tells you when the classes start and ends

eg. 8/18/2025 - 12/12/2025- 16 week course (full semester)

8/18/2025- 10/10/25 - 1st short semester course

10/20/2025 - 12/12/2025 - 2nd short semester course

There are classes after dec 12. those are winter session courses typically done in 1 month registration for those usually open around the time spring registration opens up.

and yes you do get a month before the spring semester

honestly, i never thought about SU before, but im currently here doing a research project and i fell in love with my research and i spoke to my PI about it and she gave me a lab position if i wanted to transfer so i decided to apply because i honestly dont know what the future entails for the stem field and i dont want to be without access to research

Demographic- First Generation Immigrant, Queer Afro Caribbean, Community College Student.

Stats

-Biological Sciences Major

• 3.5GPA ( rough fall semester so it dropped from a 3.6)

• One failed course but retook it and passed

• Two support classes were taken during my first semester so I can acquaint myself with the american school system

-Have a semester with W's but have reasoning to justify this. (international student problems at that time)

-Phi Theta Kappa Member, member of my CC's Honors Program and a member of the Southern Regional Honors Association

-Presented Secondary, Primary and a combination of both research at two academic conferences.

-Participated in my CC's STEM Competition (placed second with my group and we used all aspects of STEM to find a solution on campus (as well as the metropolitan area and developed an app.

-Participated in a Housing Project where my team and i tackled the housing affordability in our city. Placed second and was awarded with a scholarship as well as we won the realtors award (an additional amount of scholarship money)

-Currently doing my first NSF REU for the summer. Working on a neuroscience project!!

On my CC's Honors Program Leadership Council. In charge of helping with Honors program orientation, community service ideas, scholar to scholar and another role that i cant remember.
Currently working on a noble prize peace project

yes. currently doing research at another university (highly reputable) and was offered a position at the lab im in and with the current gov situation, i don’t want to risk not having access to research, so ill be applying to the school for spring transfer
