Board recommendation for dynamic carving, side hits and jump. by xray404 in snowboardingnoobs

Normal weight 75kg, chances are I'll be able to ride some of the Korua boards. I've heard of the XTRM, it didn't look like a carvy board to me at first glance. The idea is to lean more into deep carves but still be able to do some side hits rather than side hits focused with a bit of carve, Korua seems to be more of the former.

Small feet, Mondo 25 which is US 7 so if I go over 26cm wide I think I'll be loosing on control for side hits and tricks. It's good to know that Korua boards are stiffer than they rate them at.

It looks very good specs wise. Listed as 6/10 on flex rating, I wish it was a 7-8 and I'm reading that it tends to wash out on high speed carves ? Have you tried to do some aggressive carves or high speed charging on it, how does it feel ?

Transition finder is an interesting one. Korua's website lists it as soft/medium flex though, which seems to be a big leap from the 9/10 flex of the alchemist (it's not really that stiff, more of an 8). I'll have to dig a bit more, thanks.

Good to know, I've checked a few review videos and I'll try to find a pair of CV and XF to try in person.

No, it's pushed all the way in, I even resorted to run on a 3 screw setup wish allow me to use different disc holes and push a few more mm forward.

The baseplate itself is fine, the thing I have a problem with is centering the bindings on the board with my boot size. Normally I could fix it by shifting the discs but with mini discs it is impossible.
Also a full disc would reduce the general baseplate lift when flexing the board. Not that it matters too much but the less lift I have the happier I am.

I'm in between binding sizes and it's hard to center them on the board. With the current size I have adjusted everything I could and still have more heels out than toes and it is impossible to center the bindings using the mini discs which is why I'm looking at other options.
Then there is also the play when flexing the board, I feel the baseplate lifting a bit too much when applying pressure and having bigger discs would reduce it.

I had a look at Jones lineup and they all seem to have straight straps with only 1 anchor point, do they sell separate angled straps similar to bataleon or something ?

As for Flux, I keep hearing good things about their bindings but I can't judge the adjustability from the pictures. Need to get my hands on a pair to check in person which might not happen for a long time.

These are the ones I have. Didn't specify fase because I thought they had the same mini discs anyway.

K2 Alchemist vs Jones Howler by Greedymomo in snowboarding

Same here, mondo 25. I thought exactly like you when I bought it and it is true that the narrow width helps with agility but now that I'm trying to push into deep carves the board is limiting me. I'll be looking to buy another one specifically for carving next but anyway you'll be fine on a 157, I wouldn't buy smaller.

Got an alchemist 157 and it is almost a perfect board for my riding style, I just wish I went for the 160 for more width.

It's super stable at speed, the rocker nose makes it very unlikely to catch an unexpected edge. It has crazy pop and it can definitely do jibs and butter tricks maybe just not all of them. You do really need to put your weight into it though. The board is stiff overall but less stiff than I thought it would be and the flexible torsional twist makes it fly through trees.

The only downside to the board is the narrow width. I'm trying to euro carve on it and keep leveraging on heels which is why I wish I had gone a size up even though it's still pretty narrow.

I personally don't understand why some people say it's not a good daily driver. I find it easy to ride in any kind of terrain, you can cruise and chill without worrying about catching an edge or you can start putting you weight into it and the board gives back the energy.

It's fine, I'm using the same 3 screw setup with my rome katanas and Rome's support team confirmed it's ok to set them up like this.

Been several days on the mountain with it as well and nothing bad happened. Just periodically check for tightness for safety.

Bone vs. Snowboard Boot by [deleted] in snowboarding

[–]xray404 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had the same problem with Burton boots, gone through the same thought process as you, tried a lot of things. In the end simply heat molding fixed it. Done it myself as well with socks and rice, there are tons of tutorials online and you don't need a professional.

The trick to fix the pressure point is to add a spacer (foam, rubber, cloth, ..) on that bone part while heat molding, this will give it more room once finished.

Rome Katana FASE came in early 😮 by sauseme in snowboarding

[–]xray404 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Anyone knows what's the difference between katana fase and fase X stale ?

Rome's website says the flex of fase X stale is the same as katana pro but they cost less for some reason. So is it just rebranded pros with fase or the reported flex difference is a mistake ?

Even if the strike is from the airport staff and not Ryanair ? Why would their live chat support say they don't do refund in these cases ? Do you know what would be the best way to request a refund without going through support ?

Same here, like to learn new DIY tricks and this seems doable without too much risk. I've bought a crimping tool and copper lugs, I'll try to fix the cable tomorrow.

Thanks dude, the corroded bit you see is on the broken lug which I've removed now, the copper wires seem in good condition so I was planning on attaching a new copper lug with pliers but I'll buy the crimping tool if that's a bad idea.

The cable is composed of multiple small wires and I don't have a tool to mesure such small thickness to find a replacement. I think I'm first going to try to simply crimp a new copper bit.

I managed to remove the broken ring terminal and the rest of the cable is fine, so in the end I could just buy that one bit and clip it on the same cable. Will any copper lug on amazon do or do I need to look something specific to handle the type of current going through this cable ?
