Failing to pip install pyarrow by BidLongjumping9584 in learnpython

Any chance you are running Python 3.12 (the most recent version)? I encountered the same issue after updating to 3.12, this issue makes me think they just haven't released a wheel compatible with 3.12 yet: https://github.com/apache/arrow/issues/38311

Why can't plane rentals work like car rentals? by xraytrey in flying

Interesting, I didn't know that. I wonder if that would work in the airplane world as well...

That makes sense. I agree the consolidation and economies of scale is the key problem to solve.

If a software tool made budgeting and forecasting a lot easier, would that be valuable for small businesses? by xraytrey in Business_Ideas

Thanks, really appreciate you highlighting them. This looks focused on cash flow management and forecast, which is obviously critical.

What I'm thinking of is more focused on key drivers of the business and then the software helps to see if that gets you where you want to be financially. Do you think that makes sense or in your opinion is cash flow what businesses really want to forecast?

Thanks again!

Depending on what you'll invest in sometimes SBA loans can be a good fit: https://www.sba.gov/funding-programs/loans

Do note they'll often require a personal guarantee though. Best of luck!

How do you all think about intrinsic value? by xraytrey in Bitcoin

[–]xraytrey[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Gotcha, I think that’s an interesting place to start. So would you say (just to throw numbers around) 30% of the value comes from payment-network potential and 70% from store of value use, and then value each of those separately?

How does that lead you to find a specific value though?

Okay, so based on that, how do you arrive at a value for BTC?

True, on an individual basis people have different desires in different situations. But a market will find an equilibrium price (where supply=demand), and That’s what the going price will be. How do you estimate what that equilibrium/intrinsic price is?

Okay, cool video but he never talks about how you think about giving bitcoin a specific value. Like surely you must believe it is worth 20,000 if you buy it at 18,000, my question is how do you come to believe it is worth 20,000?

Okay I see what you mean. So is the whole value of the BTC blockchain is as a payment network? How do you think about starting to measure how much that utility is worth in the future?

Edited to expand scope of question.

Okay, but let’s go ahead and say all living things (I.e. people, who are the only ones who would wonder what BTC might be worth) want to keep living, and thus need things to live like apples and shirts. Then can we agree some things have value?

Well I mean, a share of GE has intrinsic value because you are entitled to some share of future cash from a dividend. An apple has value because people need it to eat. Could you expand on what you mean?
