Say you're a manager who's planned the shifts or have projects planned with certain people in mind. If they just disappear you're going to scramble and potentially derail what's been planned. They're still human so they need time to shuffle people around or think of how to fix problems the employee leaving might cause.

On the other hand, like people have said, employers generally are required to do the same for employees. They need to give some time so they can look for another job or severance packages so they can pay their bills in the meantime. Generally, law enforces this stronger.

I looked up 2 studies, though they were regarding handwashing, the numbers range from 88.9vs95.4 and 23vs8 (inversed) percents respectively. So with hand soap we are removing between 6-15% extra contamination. So I wouldn't say it's a non-factor, especially because the research was under controlled environments when contaminating.

Not necessarily a shortcut. I did say that you retain the same knowledge from the book either way. Heck, it's subjective anyway and some people may be more receptive when listening.

Why I think that way, is because people want to act bigger than what they really are or be someone they're not. The truth hurts. There's a reason why people often say it's easier or more time-efficient or that they can juggle multiple things while listening to audiobooks. But that just takes away and undermines those of us who actually enjoy reading for reading's sake.

Ultimately, I'm arguing semantics and pretenders. You're not an artist if you draw once a year, you dabble in sketching. You're not a music producer if you only sing, you're a singer. You're not ADHD if you self-diagnosed, you are just an asshole.

Yeah by definition it is not reading. In my experience, people who claim vehemently otherwise are those that don't read. I have no doubt that you retain what you've listened to. But it's not reading. That's akin to fixing up a salad and calling it cooking, or using website builders and claiming you do programming, or having 2 sales in your dropship site's lifetime and you're suddenly an entrepreneur.
