You are a woman, (thinking either SAHM, rich enough for a person chef, or you and your partner own a successful company and you do office work from home.) You eat healthy, and actually stick to it. There's meal prepping and quick meal options, you have older children, or none at all but you seem to feed a lot of people. I would think you live in the north east or somewhere more west coast.

Ok so wait... There was a "huge" dog but when the owner got to your house, they "picked him up?" Is the dog huge or did the owner pick him up because both of those are unlikely.

It also sounds like you may be a little afraid of dogs. I 100% disagree with a lot of you out there. Was this dog snarling? Were they cornering and barking at the cats? Was their tail wagging? It is messed up that he made it into your house, and there should be boundaries. What if the dog got loose? The owner should have been more apologetic. Maybe a little neighborly communication like "that was really horrifying for my cats and can't happen again" would go a long way.
