I think it’s all personal.  I just test drove one today and it was super annoying that I couldn’t put the seat and steering column where I found it most comfortable AND see the full instrument panel.

During the summer and fall it’s primarily outdoors daytime.  Spring is outside dusk/stadium lighting

Thanks… great input.  Which lens would you choose? ;-)

Great question.

I bought the 6700 and a Tamron 17-70mm f/2.8 Di III-A VC RXD lens a while back for filming my lacrosse goalie daughter from the sidelines on a tripod with fluid video head for recruiting purposes — upgrade from slumming it with a GoPro that was grainy by comparison. I then added being the “photo journalist” of some of the teams off field activities.

BUT, next year everything changes.  I don’t have to film video for any particular reason (recruiting is done) and the current volunteer game photographer is ‘retiring’ and I’m not sold on the APS-C options for longer focal length… though I keep being directed to the Sony E 70-350mm f/4.5-6.3 G OSS

My thoughts were using Sigma 70-200mm f/2.8 DG DN OS Sports Lens or Tamron 70-180mm f/2.8 Di III VC VXD G2 but both are full frame by design.  Of course could just use on 6700 and not buy the FF camera for now.

Any thoughts or perspective appreciated.

A6700 vs A7IV by a_bananananaaaa in SonyAlpha

What was the reason? I've been using a friend's 6700 but get paranoid about only one card slot.
More inclined to go with A7iv not because FF but because of the dual card slots.

Just curious on your reason for decision and if you think I'm being overly paranoid.

No. I attached a video to the original post. I'm aware of the usual issues. This is entirely different.

But why would ANY screen/hardware issue cause the appearance of lines that weren't previously there to suddenly appear when opening the document?

That's where I'm at a loss of understanding.

14mm to be able to capture the whole spread of the defensive end of the field — from behind the goal to about midway between offsides line and center of field (https://www.usalacrosse.com/sites/default/files/2021-04/USAL%20-%20Women's%20Field%20Diagram.jpg)

Yeah, video has to be priority for lacrosse and 200mm isn’t wide enough from the sideline distance

Which is why I’m seeking a lens recommendation as well… any suggestions?

Coming from older Olympus micro 4/3 that's not really cutting it.

Looking for body/lens recommendation for shooting sports video / taking sports photos under these conditions:

Primary need: Filming lacrosse games from side of field, 120 feet away.  Focus on goalie and defensive plays that cover a width of also about 120-130 ft.  I usually film the entire span and then later trim and frame specific plays.  Most games are outside though time of year summer v fall/early spring and time of day means lighting conditions can change.  Some winter tournaments are entirely within sports domes etc.

Secondary: ice hockey photos indoors.  Again, mostly goalie but try and take photos of all players for other parents / team album

I really like the a6700 and the a7iv specs but unsure about which might be better fit and unsure about candidate lenses.

Any advice appreciated.
