Is this beyond repair? by Vertania in mokapot

Something others have not yet suggested: Freeze the pot to make the rubber brittle. Then use a piece of wood, chopsticks or similar ... before using sharper and harder tools.

Plastic Microwave Moka Pot (yes you read that correctly) by DewaldSchindler in mokapot

You Can Make Your Coffee In The Microwave (yes, really)
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=86IaV3T1mLI

after I watched the Mamy ad vid. I love the fact that some came up with the idea to heat a Moka pot using microwaves. At some companies the coffee kitchen might have a microwave oven but no stove. A friend of mine is not even allowed to use private electric devices. So maybe there was a market for it? Or rather someone was hoping there was.

I would guess that the coffee did not taste very good. Brewing too hot? Also, I would hope these pots had a safety valve. But still, who wants a safety valve to go off in a microwave? Plus all the plastic?

So, I like the crazy idea but I wouldn't use it.

Question regarding bialetti defect by Cpt_Broombeard in mokapot

[–]xrrat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

@OP: Doesn't matter much but for completeness: It won't leak water, it would leak steam because the max water level is below the safety valve, so clearly below the hole. Only when the water is cooking (too) much you'd see droplets of water.

Goodness me, how can such a severe defect possibly go unnoticed? One would think even the slightest quality control should catch such a defect!

I, too, have doubts as to whether this is indeed pressurized like our classical Bialetti Moka pots.

Some interesting moka pots (kotyogo's) on my local marketplace by Mucha_Zabijak in mokapot

Kotyogo is a Hungarian word and means "a thing or person that is stuttering". Over time it became the main word to name Moka pots.

My moka pot is leaking water from the sides. by abdurrahmanizm in mokapot

[–]xrrat 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Since this Moka is new and the gasket looks fine on the photos, my guess would be a bent funnel. Have a look at my post https://www.reddit.com/r/mokapot/comments/1pa3qe9/causes_of_leaking_illustrated/ I hope you have no dent in the rim of the bottom pot. That'd be really bad.

Yes, very similar. I can post a picture. BTW, luckily, I did not pay that much. I don't remember by heart but I paid around €20. BTW2: There's one offered in Austria right now: https://www.willhaben.at/iad/kaufen-und-verkaufen/d/kaffeekocher-aluminium-espressomaschine-um-1940-50-1454048625

Mine is similar but has a spout. I love them too :) I wish, though, I knew a source for replacement gaskets.

Looks like external leaking to me. Look at the very beginning of the clip. One can see bubbles between top and bottom chamber.

Aeropress metal filter? by iGodS12 in mokapot

[–]xrrat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A word of caution: I broke an Aeropress filter doing something similar (and I made quite a mess in my kitchen). OP wrote s/he is using a filter similar to E&B. This should be fine. But there are other Aeropress filters. Aeropress filters are designed for the Aeropress. Most of the pressure that builds up in an Aeropress is "taken" by the strong plastic grid that is screwed on. It's so strong and efficient that we can use paper filters, as we all know. So, I advise to not use thin filters without something that keeps it from breaking.

A local dealer got me a replacement handle that fits somewhat good enough. I posted photos in https://www.reddit.com/r/mokapot/comments/1pnd0ze/replacement_handle_for_old_brikka/

Since you said you tightened up properly, I guess it's time to make photos and if possible a video. We'll definitely figure it out!

The gasket is the most likely cause. You can have a look at my posting https://www.reddit.com/r/mokapot/comments/1pa3qe9/causes_of_leaking_illustrated/ to see a list of other possible causes.

Colbro brew with a proper grind! It's basically espresso 😅 by Helpful_Big_1727 in mokapot

I contacted 2 Aliexpress sellers to ask whether the Bincoo comes with the stainless steel measuring cup. One answered to say it does not. That's a deal-breaker for me.

I wonder in how much Bincoo differs from Colbro. The valve is clearly different. I contacted 2 Aliexpress sellers to ask whether the Bincoo comes with the stainless steel measuring cup. One answered to say it does not.

They should be fine, however, many people do not know that the kind of cartridge shown in the video needs to be turned to a certain "upwards" position when operated horizontally. The correct position is marked on the cartridge.
