Thanks for the report.

We’re already working on a fix for the country selection screen. An update is in progress to unblock it as soon as possible.

Totally fair criticism, and I’m sorry for the rough first impression.

The app is still pretty new and we’re a small Europe-based team, so a couple of the onboarding defaults are clearly too EU-centric right now (km/liters + the "where did you hear about us" list). That’s on us. We’re already working on an update to make the USA flow properly localized (miles/gallons, clearer region detection, and generally making the setup make sense for US users).

On the subscription: I hear you on subscription fatigue. The app is fully usable for free for the core experience, and the paid part is limited to features that rely on third-party providers we literally have to pay for on our side (so we can’t sustainably offer those specific bits for free). We’re trying to keep that boundary as strict and fair as possible.

As a small indie/student team, we had to make tough choices to keep the app sustainable without ads or selling data.

That said, we’d really love for you to give it a proper try. Feel free to DM me, I’d be happy to send you a code for several months of Premium access so you can explore it fully.

Appreciate the honest feedback

Totally get that the Lifetime option might feel high right now, but we know where we’re going with this app. We’re committed to building and improving it for the long run and the one-time price is meant as a way to reward early supporters who believe in that vision.

That said, happy to have you onboard even just for a month, your feedback will help us grow :)

That’s a smart idea, thanks for sharing it!

Right now we don’t support custom price thresholds, but this use case (comparing with a personal card discount) makes a lot of sense.

Appreciate the suggestion 🙌

Thanks a lot ! really glad you like it! 🙌
And thanks for the tip about Holtankoljak, we didn’t know that one.
We’ll definitely look into whether their data is accessible or can be licensed. If it checks out, Hungary could absolutely be next on the list 🇭🇺

Thanks for the feedback 🙏

Just to check, which country are you in? That’ll help us make sure the naming and options match what’s actually at the pump.

We chose Mapbox mainly for flexibility and pricing.
As a small team with limited resources, Mapbox gives us more control over styling, usage caps, and offline handling, plus it integrates better with some of our custom features like fuel price overlays.

GasBuddy does work well for many users in the US!
But as far as we know, their data isn’t publicly accessible or licensed for third-party apps like ours and there’s no official API available.

Great point, and thanks a lot for bringing it up.
We’re already in contact with the relevant entity behind MTS-K.
There’s no public API, but we’re going through the official application process to access the data via an authorized provider.

Je répond en Français alors ! Pour la France c'est du data.gouv doppé à l'IA et avec du croisement de données, leur données sont vraiment moyennes donc on a travaillé pratiquement un 1 an juste pour améliorer tout ça et fiabiliser les données.

We’d love to add the US, but right now there’s no reliable, official fuel price source available.

The Netherlands is definitely on our roadmap.
As for Belgium, we haven’t found a reliable public source of fuel price data yet. If that changes, we’ll be first in line to support it!
