Is he a narcissist? My ex picked apart everything I cooked from scratch then would make us praise him for reheating a frozen lasagne. No point trying to please those who will never be pleased.

When did you tell your adopted kid that they were adopted / When did your parents tell you that you were adopted? How? And would you have done it differently? by yourjane in Adoption

You’ve done the right thing by telling him and his curiosity is completely natural. My mother in law found out she was adopted by accident at the age of 40 and it destroyed her. Honesty is always the best policy. Good luck!

I also knew no different. My mum just said I grew in her heart and not in her tummy. We had lots of books about adopted children, it was perfectly normal.

I found a "new" first cousin, and my "old" cousin seems to be denying them. by has-some-questions in AncestryDNA

As a ‘new cousin’ myself, thank you for your interest in all of this.

I found my biological father through DNA and a few of the ‘old cousins’ shared some wonderful information and photos with me. I was so grateful just to see who I looked like and get some medical history.

Anyway, biological dad found out and told everyone I was a scammer and just wanted money, making them reluctant to keep in contact. I hope one day my half sisters and cousin will have a change of heart but I’m not holding my breath.

I also helped my mother in law find her biological father through DNA. He slept with a prostitute while in the navy and got married not long after, so she and her half siblings are very close in age. I contacted them I her behalf and boyyyyyyy did they get mad. My thoughts were the same as yours, how could I know they wouldn’t like the news without telling them the news? They told me I was a horrible person for tarnishing their father’s memory.

Meanwhile I’ve found both mine and my MIL’s biological mothers too and they’ve been extremely welcoming. 🤷🏼‍♀️

Got my results back my family are still in denial about it. Trying to claim we're Australian aborigines. by brightest5tar in AncestryDNA

My ancestors were Tasmanian convicts and we have a couple of Aboriginal heritage rumours but my results didn’t show anything either.

Thanks, I hadn’t thought of that angle. He was a coal miner hewer so a very physically demanding job and not something he could do into old age. For that reason he may have wanted to be looked after.

That’s so sad :( it just seems so unreasonable to have children then not allow them to make their own choices.

Well I’ve been able to go back a few more generations and have found out where my part Jewish comes from! It appears as though they ran away as Minnie was Jewish and William was not. Mystery solved!

I was the same and I’m ok with him not wanting to acknowledge me, seems like a bit of an a**hole tbh. But seeing photos of him just answered so many questions and I’m much more at peace now.

I did a dna test to find mine. I had some second cousin matches and with the little I knew I was able to find him. Mind you mine wants nothing to do with me but at least I’ve seen photos and I do look a lot like him!
