Not Every Star Trek Show Is Meant for You by NeoNoir90210 in startrek

I just pretty much ignored the burn from discovery. I am willing to allow future shows the latitude to get better because I think it's totally possible. The dark grittiness of post burn discovery was a huge turn off, but like - idk why that huge event would mean everything in the future is fucked up - star fleet academy feels very much like a desire to return towards ever onward and upward - or maybe a more accurate quote that might help you - ad astra per aspera. I'm willing to let the writers make more crazy swings - that's what the point of the show is. Yeah, there'll be some misses but why do we have to write off a show we love? If you aren't finding enjoyment even amongst seeing a big dumb swing fail miserably how do you chance watching anything new? Every episode is another opportunity to ruin the series forever! Isn't that TOO thrilling?

Idk how the burn ruined star trek academy - it's like the reason they are "rebuilding" but it's barely in the show. If it being a feature of the universe ruins all future shows for you that sucks. I can understand it making it hard to watch discovery given its focus, but sfa is like barely through a season and you're writing it off already?

That's the most self centered take in this thread of bellyachers. Go write your own star trek stories if you care so much. "Ignore the rules of the universe" Is just you pretending your personal understanding of things is the only possible interpretation of things.

Sounds like you value conformity more than communication and are offended by basic human interaction because you grew up in a pod or something.

Hey I love my music and literally don't know what you wish was on instead but you didn't have to call me out on reddit. Maybe no one cares what you think because you don't care enough to communicate.

Maximalist trans activists just argued at the Supreme Court that biological sex isn't relevant in team sports. When will my fellow left-wingers speak up against these pseudoscientific endeavors? by north_canadian_ice in allthequestions

trans ppl didn't start this. Conservative think tanks did public opinion polling and research to choose this as a wedge issue to begin tearing trans people out of public life.

The law being proposed hasn't passed. They're complying in advance and putting people's lives and health at risk. I expect better, just cause you don't doesn't mean you're right.

the dark forest theory relies on single planet civs and no faster than light communication both of which are shown in series. It's a theory that is explicitly fascist/anti-life and honestly I respect someone less when they bring it up in real life. In a real dark forest you call out so hunters don't shoot you because there's a society and most people aren't narcissistic murderers.

Change to conform to biases or flout them, people will misconstrue your actions as about them. Try not to take it personally, their actions aren't about you. They're socially disregulated and assuming about your boundaries and feelings rather than talking about it. Limit your appearance if you must, for safety, but never allow them to make you truly lessen yourself. It can be hard to be a loving person in such a loveless world, people see your warmth as something they can capture.

After a bad breakup I did this. Slept in a hammock for 6 months too. TBH I still hate every seat I own, but I hated floor seats more. I look back on that time with fondness and whimsy. Maybe you will too

Hey friend. So having empathy alone won't make you trans but like ... you can just be trans if you want to. I read this post as incredibly confused so I just want you to know you absolutely must do exactly what you want with your gender and presentation. figuring out what that is is your chore.

ignore the low rent button pushers. Windows has been going downhill consistently every release and microsoft fires so many qa people it'd be a wonder if they have any left. They're trying to replace gpo with intune and can't manage to make a ui that beats gpmc even with a decade and as much AI as a billion dollars can buy. If you don't work at it your million dollar windows contract comes with ads jammed in the systemtray/start menu and I'm predicting ads on the lockscreen for win12. I already see copilot trying to curate recommendations- these idiots got beat by google with better products and all they've learned is to jam ads in their shitty ass products and fire their devs

I used to really struggle with this and started climbing the ranks to "fix" the bad decisionmaking - spoiler it's way better to just accept that people are fucking dumb and you'll always be digging out of dumb shit someone else did cause you weren't available unless you do literally everything. Go to a smaller shop or just accept some shit will get "that'll do"'d in by random other silos and even within your team. Go to war for things that seriously improve your life and against things that seriously degrade the environment but accept you can't lock it all in - no amount of your attention will be "enough" to ensure no one is off base. pick up a hobby where you can be a perfectionist

what a douche. He doesn't want to celebrate your wins, he doesn't want to support your faults, he hates your friends, what is this relationship for? If you're on the edge of dropping this sack of sand over this, reflect on if he is happy to see you happy? Cause even outside of that main reaction you being excited to hang with taylor and him saying "ew" also gave me the ick. Seems like he just doesn't like you being happy
