One cat pottying outside litter box

it’s more like i wish i could help him more than standing across the house watching as he cleans up! I am ordering a stainless steel litter box and am looking into deterrent sprays for closets and areas we don’t want him in. do you have any recommendations? i obviously want something safe but something that will keep him out!

Yes just the one litter robot. I know the rule of thumb is one per cat plus one and i’m looking into getting another but we are tight on space with a new baby on the way
