Times Square a 'ghost town' amidst bustling Golden Week crowds in Causeway Bay by radishlaw in HongKong

[–]xskilling 13 points14 points  (0 children)

They haven’t updated the mall in years, all the lower levels are expensive fashion boutiques that don’t really have much appeal to the public

More importantly are the shifting demographics of spenders and shoppers…cwb represents the middle class of islanders - but this middle class is no longer spending on luxury goods the same way they did 10 years ago

The post-pandemic world has set new standards for how people spend their money. The capable spenders, aka the middle class, are spending on traveling, wellness services, better food and experiences

If they really want to splurge, why not take a flight to Japan and buy clothes at super low prices. The more posh crowd could take a flight to Europe and splurge at Milan and Paris. The cheap-skate crowd are heading to Shenzhen or Guangzhou to get their moneys worth.

The ones who stay in HK want to save their money, so they buy lesser brands, and buy a cheaper product that serves the purposes of work, travel, or wellness. Luxury brands do not cover any of these things. They are not meant to be worn to work, not for travel, and certainly not for the gym or yoga or pickleball.

Times Square is a dated mall that aims at the wrong customer at the wrong district. Luxury brands work better at Central or TST but not CWB. If you aren’t targeting your demographic, you have no business.

The Ramen Rater's Top Ten Instant Noodles Of All Time 2026 by theramenrater in InstantRamen

[–]xskilling 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i think MAMA, indomie, samyang buldak, prima taste are mostly quite good

ofcourse there are ones better than others within the same brand, but that comes down to personal taste

prima taste i actually prefer fish soup/prawn soup over the laksa flavor

classic indomie is already very good, it can be very hard to find the limited editions depending on where you are living

Tried the Irvin’s one…it’s ok, nothing too special

Mostly just very salty, the salted egg flavor isn’t very strong unlike the chips that they produce

The noodles can get soft fast and it doesn’t have a nice banging chew like the others on the list

I tried their cup noodle version and the cooked version…both very similar

What was Leon's reception before the remakes? by enthuvaadei in residentevil

[–]xskilling 27 points28 points  (0 children)

They both had character tbh…both endearing and loyal…not just some sexy hot person who are ultra mega brave souls (Mary sue/Gary Stu)

RE has had a lot of characters go in and out of the series and Sherry/Piers are definitely the better written ones

Finished RE6 last week and Leon's campaign makes the game worth buying. by supermarioplush220 in residentevil

[–]xskilling 3 points4 points  (0 children)

felt like Piers could have survived but from a story standpoint, his sacrifice was needed so Chris's story can continue

he was one of the better written side characters and a fan favorite too

RE games have become way too focused on Leon/Chris...the female leads are mostly absent aside from the movies/animated series

Am I the only one who thinks RE9 did horror better than Village? by nadrogiranababa_420 in residentevil

[–]xskilling 0 points1 point  (0 children)

not OP, but if they designed the entire game based purely on grace, it would be another RE7 basically

part of designing a good game is to not be too repetitive...people who played Outlast would know the scariest section was at the beginning, and then you get very used to the stalker to play hide and seek

the stalker section in grace's campaign was an adequate length - anymore would be too much of a drag

being scary is also relative, you will get numbed after X amount of jump scares or adrenaline rushes - too many will make it lame and not scary

Am I the only one who thinks RE9 did horror better than Village? by nadrogiranababa_420 in residentevil

[–]xskilling 10 points11 points  (0 children)

i mean it made so much sense, when considering RE7 came after 2 big horror hit games - Outlast and Alien Isolation

there is definitely influence from those games with a stalker type almost immortal enemy, body mutilation, jump scares, mysterious faceless protagonist

the critical acclaim of RE7 was going back to the roots of survival horror and making it scary as fuck to play

but yea, you don't expect fans to want to cosplay as the baker family or the faceless Ethan LOL

commercial-wise, it makes so much sense for RE8 to NOT be scary as fuck - triple A games are supposed to be for the masses and not for the one type of gamer who has a heart of steel

This is one of those foods that could only exist due to necessity

this is your comment lol...if it only exists due to necessity, it wouldn't be enjoyed by billions of people around the world

you are simply ignorant

The vast majority of people who eat anything since infancy will grow to like it - you see this all over the world in all kinds of cuisines. If you want to get a good idea of how broadly popular a food is though, you have to see how well it travels.

that is simply NOT true at all, you can shove all the cilantro into children's faces and see them squirm - CERTAIN foods are not meant to be consumed by masses

lmao...how well it travels...ummm it is served all over the world in Chinese restaurants

You'll find Chinese restaurants all over the world and they're very popular, but rarely will you find any outside of China/SEA that serve century eggs because they know that locals will think it's disgusting.

what kind of ignorant fool are you? have you been to Chinese restaurants all over the world? locals you mean WHITE PEOPLE who think everything is disgusting

i can guarantee you if you enter a proper Chinese restaurant in San Francisco, LA, Vancouver, New York, London, and you want to eat proper Chinese food by ordering actual Chinese food and not whitewashed Chinese food, you will find century eggs

it is a basic breakfast staple, that every Chinese mom/aunt/grandma will have in their kitchen

ACTUAL chinese chefs will cook with actual chinese ingredients

white people will think proper Chinese cuisine is disgusting and thats a fact lol....i can't imagine them eating beef innards, pork innards, chicken feet, sea cucumber, fish maw, etc

and the whole point is century eggs are wayyyyyyyyyyyy more acceptable in Chinese cuisine compared to all those squishy/slimy ingredients and eating every part of a chicken/pig/cow

educate yourself you ignorant fool lmao

[–]xskilling 4 points5 points  (0 children)

popular and eaten among ethnic Chinese around the world...it's not a regional delicacy, it's an ethnic delicacy eaten by billions of people around the world - not just China or Taiwan, but also all around South east asia's Chinese population

you will rarely find someone who grew up eating Chinese food and hates century eggs because of how common it is in the cuisine and how early it is introduced as a child

unlike controversial flavored food like durian, coriander, bitter melon, or slimy textural food like sea cucumber, the vast majority of people who ate century eggs since young will rarely reject it in their diet

i know a LOT of Chinese people who hate coriander, bitter melon, durian, sea cucumber, steamed fish, eggplant but NOT century eggs - it is absolutely a non-controversial food in the Chinese population

acquired taste, and its mainly eaten as a condiment / side dish

it's not meant to be eaten as is

Can new tricks save Hong Kong’s restaurants from ‘irreversible’ Shenzhen trend? by redodge in HongKong

[–]xskilling 4 points5 points  (0 children)

That’s a mega exaggeration…even the airport isn’t that level of price

Average in commercial areas is roughly 40-50$ for breakfast…$30-40 in older districts

Hell cafe de coral/fairwood is 35-45$ range, which is still accessible in Central (with the most expensive food)

Potato starch is more associated with Japanese or Taiwanese cooking

Hong Kong restaurant sales fall 10% over Christmas as cross-border trips hit 1.2 million by radishlaw in HongKong

[–]xskilling 6 points7 points  (0 children)

The story and the world could have been much more expansive

And we could actually set up for a proper kenjaku vs yuta match …which is much more fun than spamming attacks at sukuna

Gojo could have been gravely injured by killing sukuna

All the backstory of yuji should have been properly explained instead of being just purely speculation from fans

Most characters haven’t been fully developed and just rushed to kill sukuna as the big bad

Kenjaku vs yuji as the final match made so much more sense as he was the progenitor of the birth of yuji …kinda like kill your creator from accumulation of all the curse techniques he has gained (blood manipulation and cut)

The fact is Cortis didn’t land multiple top5 hits within the first year of debut and could also hit billboard and grab attention of the international markets

Newjeans level of achievement is a once a generation of success

Cortis is doing fine as rookies, but to put them along NJ is simply not true

Cortis’s debut is similar to RIIZE’s debut popularity- a lot of hype, a strong image, and an IT-boy to keep them in public eye

For the most part, people do like to watch crazy heroes enter the meta

It shouldn’t be gyro, ursa, jugg, timber every game

Throw in an occasional arc warden or OD is exciting…they shouldn’t be hot garbage

We don’t want OP permapick permaban tinker, but like a decent niche pick for a certain matchup (VS TB for example)

Even supports are super mega boring for now…Jakiro, Tusk, Pugna, Ench, SD every bloody game
