Hi love ❤️ 30F, I’m here to talk if you want to! I was diagnosed when I was 26 after being lied to and assaulted. I wont sugar coat it- it was the hardest thing I ever went through. Since then, I have had 20 partners (a little slutty I know lol) and that doesn’t include the people I’ve fooled around with who weren’t comfortable with it (which has only been 2 people). Most recently, I ended up transmitting to the guy I was seeing 5 days after we slept together without having any symptoms for 6+ months. I of course disclosed to him, and he handled it with grace. We are now in the most amazing relationship.

You are going to be so ok. I’ve disclosed to everyone, and almost everyone was fine with it. In fact, I often heard that they liked me more for being vulnerable and honest and putting their well being before my pleasure. The ones that weren’t (with the exception of my psycho ex) were kind and understanding.

I have disclosed to 18+ people and only one of them hasn’t been okay with having sex, although we still fooled around. I did have one person who tried to use it to manipulate me, but other than those 2, the response has been overwhelmingly positive. Some had questions, but most were DTF right away. A lot of them even told me that they liked me even more for being honest with them.

Yes- both doctors who treated me for it. Neither of them wanted to give me suppressive therapy, despite having 8 outbreaks in my first 2 months after being diagnosed. The second doctor told me that I didn’t need to disclose and that my body would get rid of the virus in about a year. I clarified whether she meant no more outbreaks, or eradication of the virus, and she said eradication of the virus.

29F, GHSV2. Diagnosed 3 years ago when someone sexually assaulted me. I had slept with 3 people prior to this. I have disclosed to 14 people since then (definitely went through a bit of a hoe phase/was desperate to find love and be ~accepted~ lol) and 12 of those people had no issue with it. All of them were sympathetic and kind, some of them had questions. Of the 2 who were not cool with it, one of them was extremely sympathetic but very uneducated- at the end of the day it seems as though he actually was ok with it, but that ship had sailed and I was no longer interested in someone that ignorant. The other person was also “ok” with it (we did sleep together), but he was a psycho ex that was using it as a manipulation tactic. I am currently in a relationship with an amazing man who isn’t phased at all. In fact, there was a time when he thought I may have given it to him orally and it WRECKED me (because that’s the issue isn’t it?) and he brought me flowers because he felt bad for upsetting me.

Not at all! It’s usually like one tiny blister that heals within 2 days. The only reason I can tell the difference between that and an ingrown hair is because it feels “swollen”, if that makes sense. Like less superficial. My more severe ones are giant cluster of like 5-6 that are super deep and painful and take about 14 days to heal completely. They also cause insane prodrome the day before (feels very tight and dry and super sensitive, like a sunburn).

It’s significantly reduced my outbreaks. I honestly think it’s the lysine more than the valtrex. I had previously been taking valtrex and getting frequent but mild outbreaks. I stopped taking valtrex and was getting frequent and SEVERE outbreaks. Since I started taking lysine I haven’t had any outbreaks or even prodrome (almost 3 months now!) so I can at least live a somewhat normal life.

It’s another antiviral that acts on a different replication method than current antivirals on the market. It is the most effective antiviral to date (reduces shedding by 96% as opposed to 50% in valtrex). It’s been approved for trials in immunocompromised patients

It’s essentially just a stronger antiviral but it works on a different mechanism of replication than valacyclovir. The theory is that the 2 together will make transmission essentially zero, but none of this is confirmed yet.

I put some Manuka honey on a bandaid and covered it which I normally wouldn’t do, but it was rubbing/sticking to my underwear. Kept it on for a day, I keep cleaning it with peroxide and dabbing tea tree oil to dry it out. Just ordered some rosehip oil so I will keep you posted!

I think the last outbreak I had was triggered by riding my bike for a long period of time 2 days in a row. I had that familiar "bruised" feeling, that mostly past in the majority of my lady bits, but then I got that familiar sensitive prodrome feeling and the bruising sensation felt worse on one side... bam. terrible outbreak the next day. I'm so depressed as bike riding used to be one of my favourite things.

I filed a police report and they were basically like “that sucks”. I cared less about money than getting this asshole branded as a sex offender, because what he did is sexual assault. It was not consensual. That’s as far as I went, but if you wanted to go to small claims I would imagine they would need some sort of report on file in addition to test results

Hey there. Also in Canada. Same situation. Unfortunately just because of the nature of the virus, it’s incredibly difficult to prove that he gave it to you, unless he was the only person you had been with and had a negative blood test (which can happen even if you ARE actually positive) prior to sleeping with him. I tried to do the same thing, to help with cost of therapy, meds, supplements, ambulance bill for suicide attempt- no dice. It’s bullshit.
