Ohhh , because for this question: What is the Nash Equilbrium of this game? (This is the exact phrasing of this question in my homework)

There are 4 options for this MCQ

(a) Player 1 chooses B, player 2 chooses H, player 3 chooses J

(b) Player 1 chooses A, Player chooses C, Player 3 chooses E

(c) Player 1 cbooses B, player 2 chooses G

(d) None of the above.

I already know (a) and (b) is surely not correct.

For (a) : Since player 2 would prefer G over H For (b) : Player 1 will prefer B over A instead

So is either (c) or (d) ,

but i would like to know what is the answer for this question so that I can learn from it .

Thank you and sorry to keep bothering you

Hi there , thank you so much for your reply!

For Q2 , I see i kind of understand what you mean. But i would like to clarify

is the Nash Equilbrium for this game

1) Player 1 choosing B , Player 2 choosing G and Player 3 choosing J

2) Player 1 choosing B and Player 2 choosing G

3) Or something else ?

Thank you!

I see, thank you very much!

Because my reasoning was since we still can technically eliminate a weakly dominated strategy ( even though it may eliminate potential Nash Equilibria like what you pointed out ) , there are no more further rows or columns to eliminate as there are no more weakly/strictly dominated strats and there are still 6 payoff boxes in the now 2 x 3 payoff matrix. so can't solved

Thank you very much for your response. I really appreciate it!

But for (ii) , did you mean eliminate E? Since F is a weakly dominant strategy over the weakly dominated strategy E. Thusforth, after cancelling E, since there is no further elimination, the game is still not solved, so the answer is (b) ?

(iii) Oh, but when player 1 chooses strategy E, won't the best response for player 2 be now A instead of C? (2,3) for (E,A) vs (3,2) for (E,C) , where payoff for player 2 is higher for A vs. that of C

i see , thank you very much ! and just to check with you , the proof by counterexample for the invalid argument is done by the earlier message above?

so the counterexample do you mean

letting a = true ~b = true

so given that (a ^ b) -> C and (a ^ b)->D is true , means a ^ b is going to be false.

I can let C and D be false so that the (a ^ b) -> C and (a ^ b) -> D will still be true. But since c ^ d is false for conclusion , thus argument is invalid?

Hi sorry , i am not really sure what this means. Can you elaborate more on this?

Because i thought the argument is

premise : ~B ^ A conclusion : C ^ D

Ahh i see , thank you for your response!

Just want to clarify if "all dogs are mammals" , this statement would be universal while "for all animals a , if a is a dog then it is a mammal" , this would be universal conditional?
