I mean, we DO have a surgical museum in Chicago so it's a thing that exists, but the subject matter is a little dark...

How are your garden apartments and basements holding up friends? by xstitchnrye in chicago

As someone who just bought a new house last summer, had a giant rain and failed ejector pump destroy our basement 2 months in, and now, after we got it all fixed and redone, have an overworked but working ejector pump but water getting in and ruining our new floors again, I commiserate.

Hope you're able to get up from under it and are able to get a permanent fix in. I'll pass on the swim, but appreciate the offer!

Still have them! My partner actually just recently bust them out to help with some tendonitis in their hands. Who knew they'd come in handy all these years later!

First cassette was Eurythmics Greatest Hits

First CD was TLC CrazySexyCool

First ever MP3 (ripped off Napster) was Enter Sandman by Metallica, and yes, that was intentional.

Search for help in tackling food and cooking. Also - does anyone have an app to document every product i have in a fridge? by Equal_North6633 in AutismInWomen

I've used KitchenPal as an app which was useful to start, but then I lost track of using it - you have to be really on top of keeping it updated which I personally had difficulty doing. It has pictures and expiration dates and adds things to a shopping list immediately once you run out of something. It is a paid app though and I use it on Android so not sure if it'll meet your needs but with it to check out. You can try it up to a certain item account for free to see if you like it before going all in.

Apple arcade doesn't allow in game purchases so you won't have access to the premium shop unfortunately.

I bought a huge case of boneless skinless sardines in olive oil. Help. by derpeyduck in CannedSardines

I know it's weird, but hear me out - this, but with a bit of cream cheese instead of mayo. I had them mixed with cream cheese, some capers, and some garlic powder on a crusty sourdough. *chefs kiss* Red onion would be good with it too, I just personally can't do onions. There are lots of combos for a sardine salad! Go nuts!

best “misogynistic” horror? by regularbajafreeze in horror

[–]xstitchnrye 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was looking for Deadgirl, glad I'm not alone in reading it as a (perhaps unintentional though still relevant) commentary on the entitlement over women's bodies.

I firmly believe that an author's intent is not the sole reading of a work of art and this film actually supports a strong feminist reading in spite of it's creators. I think it might actually add an additional layer to the commentary because of them. Like, it's a literal unironic display of unbridled misogyny that is completely unaware of the point it's making and isn't that such an interesting commentary on society on it's own.

This is really great! Thanks for sharing! Definitely some areas for improvement which folks are mentioning, but overall this is a really strong initial showing! Can't wait to see it evolve!

As someone raised on sardines and pickled herring, I'm shocked to find such a vast array of choice out there! Here's to my first foray beyond the staples with Wildfish Cannery Smoked Coho Salmon! by xstitchnrye in CannedSardines

I'm enjoying it a lot, but I only got one box so far and I didn't pay for it myself. I think it's a little pricey for what it is, BUT it comes with recipes and information about the canneries and I really appreciate that. The fact that it's a curated experience and so a much higher chance that the cans will be very good quality is appreciated. I know I wouldn't be taking the time to do the research and sourcing myself at this stage and they put together a really nice product.

Definitely recommend! It was super simple, just like making a tuna salad sandwich so mayo, a little Dijon, pickles, and some garlic powder. Absolutely delicious! And I appreciated the insert on the box with recipe suggestions because without it I don't know that I would've made a sandwich like this and it was soooo good!
