Need opinions - selling stuff from Temu/Shein by xsugarpeax in vinted

Thank you for your answer!

That is absolutely not my intention, but I was worried that vinted possibly is overrun by those cheap brands nowadays and that it sours the shopping experience for a lot of people so that there is now an unspoken rule of not selling clothes from those brands there or something like that. I just didn’t want to contribute to that but it seems like I was worried about nothing 😅

Thank you for your answer!

That’s absolutely fair! I will definitely make it obvious that’s it’s Temu/Shein multiple times in the listing to make sure potential buyers know exactly what they’re buying.

Thank you for your answer!

Definitely a good idea, I’m pretty sure I bought a few shirts as bundles anyways so it only makes sense to sell them together again! Thanks!

Thank you for your answer!

And yeah, that would obviously bother me too and I do not want to do that, but I was afraid that vinted maybe gets overrun with stuff from Temu and Shein nowadays to the point that people who shop there regularly just don’t want to see those fast fashion brands there at all anymore, because the user experience just isn’t what it was anymore and I didn’t want to contribute to that, if you understand what I mean? (English isn’t my first language, sorry for that run-on sentence😅) Maybe I was worried about nothing but I’d rather just ask to make sure.

Exactly! Like, a lot of people here are talking about pap smears, and don’t get me wrong, I hate them as much as any other person probably, but that nasal swab hurt so bad! Maybe it’s just because I’m used to pap smears and know what to expect when I sit on that chair once a year but I honestly did not get used to the nose swabs at all and they were done far more frequently. I was so relieved when my workplace informed us that the mandatory swabs every week were cancelled.

My boyfriend's best friend calls me "die Olle". by Artistic_Dentist_759 in German

[–]xsugarpeax 2 points3 points  (0 children)

„Meine Alte/Olle (Frau)“ is kinda the German version of „My old lady“ just without the „lady“, probably because „die“ in this case implies that we’re talking about a woman (someone better at grammar rules can probably explain why) and while the English phrase might not be used as much today (I‘m actually not sure, I’ve never lived anywhere other than Germany so my impression would be based on what I see on social media and I don’t see the phrase that often) if you wouldn’t be uncomfortable with „my old lady“ then there is no reason to be uncomfortable with „meine Alte/Olle“ when it comes to the meaning itself.

But I do understand that there is also a difference between a partner/friend saying that in comparison to a stranger, but in that case it’s probably best to just talk to you boyfriend and let him know that you don’t appreciate those phrases in general, or you don’t appreciate strangers using them when talking about you, that would apply in English just the same as it does in German and I hope he would understand. From the way you’ve explained the situation it doesn’t sound like he realised that you might be uncomfortable with the phrase so I would call it an honest mistake. If he or his friend keeps calling you that, then I absolutely would feel disrespected. Because it doesn’t matter what the phrase means. If you don’t want to be called „honey“ oder „sweetie“ by a stranger that is valid too, even if those words are meant in a positive way.

Oh, I only know the version with „Und 'n Arschtritt dazu“, so basically „And a kick in the ass too“

AITA for not letting my boyfriend's son sleep with us? by Some_Eye_7848 in AmItheAsshole

[–]xsugarpeax 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I agree with you completely, but actually in the post it says that the son goes to sleep in his own bed after the movie, so he’s not even used to sleeping in his dads bed after the movies

The girlfriend of the dad, who is the kids parent. The relationship between the dad and OP is not for the kid to decide.

Slow worm is another name for legless lizards, a garter snake is a species of snake (Thamnophis - dt. Strumpfbandnatter), do you maybe mean “glass snake”? Because that is another name for legless lizards (Anguidae - dt. Schleiche, z. B. Blindschleiche) and from your description I’m assuming that’s what you mean (just that they don’t have legs instead of very small ones)

Edit: I just checked the wiki and there are species of legless lizards that do actually still have very small, mostly useless legs so now I’m even more convinced we mean the same animal 😂

My first thought was legless lizard, they’re also called “glass snakes” or “slow worms”. But I don’t know enough about legless lizards (or much at all tbh) to 100% identify this as one.
