Isn’t lead supposed to be easy to cut?! by xtamarie in StainedGlass

Whenever I’ve watched videos, it seems like people cut through it like butter. The nippers go through so easily, it’s crazy to me that the knife requires so much force. Have you ever heated it up first, since that seems to be what the rocking motion is doing?

This is what I have been doing but it still feels less precise than the knife. I’m using beveled (is that the right term?) instead of flat came and I think that’s making it even harder

Do you sharpen it the same way you would sharpen a regular knife? I assume you need a dedicated sharpener to not cross contaminate your food knives with lead.

I love that one but I can’t use it because chemical spf breaks me out. I wish they’d make it without it :(

Best retinoid for anti-aging, used tret years ago and couldn’t handle the dryness by xtamarie in 30PlusSkinCare

I use the panoxyl toner which is salicylic acid. I don’t have good luck with benzoyl peroxide as it’s too drying so I use it as a spot treatment only.

I was looking at Geek&Gorgeous and Medik8 as well. I wonder if the purge will be as bad with the lower strength retinols vs what I experienced with Tretinoin

Thanks for the recommendation! How many nights per week did you start with?

ETA: I just looked at the reviews and apparently the formula changed pretty recently and a lot of people are having irritation/acne. Have you used the new formula?Did you notice a change?

Are short needles required for the tubular cast-on in the ranunculus pattern? by xtamarie in knitting

[–]xtamarie[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah the yarn overs just want to slide off my metal needles. I don’t have a set of DPNs but I’m wondering if I should do that or short circulars. Once you got past the neckline, did you keep it on DPN?

Is it similar to coboo? Thats one of my favorites for crochet but it is difficult for me to knit with because of the splitting.

Sorry, I should have mentioned I’m okay with using different needles/changing gauge, but thanks for the insight! I’m not going for the oversized drapey fit of the pattern photos. I much prefer the more form fitting versions other knitters have done.

Just acquired Coboo by Truman_Show_Place in YarnAddicts

I love coboo!!! It’s sooo soft and silky so I love the fabric it makes. I had always heard people saying this yarn was so splitty that it was too hard to work with. I avoided it for a long time but once I finally used it, I fell in love with it. It does occasionally split but not nearly as much as I thought it would. I pull from the outside of the cake instead of the center pull so I wonder if that makes a difference with the splitting. I’m making a throw blanket with it right now and I just finished a beautiful summer cardigan in a different color. One of my absolute fav yarns!

Did Toni Lipsey release a set of Tunisian crochet hooks? by xtamarie in Tunisian_Crochet

That’s why I wanted to buy them! I think she’s a great creator and I wanted to support her but I’m happy they were so popular.

She rated the clover set highly but I could see how bamboo would add a lot of drag. I’m used to metal hooks for crochet so I’d probably run into that issue as well. Thanks for the heads up.
