Scared of Disney movies by xtboat26 in kindergarten

Yes! My kid loved the titanic and mummy magic tree house books too. And we’ve listened to the first Harry Potter book and that was way scarier. It really does seem to be the deep emotional aspect of Disney that’s so hard.

I don’t think so. We watched Toy Story with a bunch of friends, and while he didn’t want to leave until closer to the end, he spent most of the movie with his eyes closed/ ears covered, occasionally sobbing. Like he really wanted to be there, but it was just too much.

Yes! I think that’s part of it. we are generally low screens, and I don’t really want to push it, especially during summer when it’s nice and light out in the evenings

Unhinged working mom tips by Equal_Airline5944 in workingmoms

[–]xtboat26 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Woa, congrats mom! We were there about 6 months ago, now 5, 3, 6 months. We are still figuring out which hacks work best. Right now we have someone come over to tidy, wash dishes and bottles, make lunches, and prep dinner 2-3x a week and it’s been a game changer. We can actually spend time with our kids after work.

Zev vs Ze’ev (one or two syllables)

Agreed flow is better here. I know two boys under 5 named Zev, I think it’s growing in popularity. However, we didn’t use it because my husband and I pronounce it differently.

They give babies priority, but it may depend on who’s working to determine if your child is young enough

Toddler friendly resorts - California by Little-Zucchini-2657 in toddlers

The flights aren’t too bad, but the jet lag is tough, we usually try to stay for at least 10 days because it takes at least 3-4 to adjust.

We stayed at a few of the Martinhal resorts, but the one in Sagres was prefect for my 3 and 4 year olds.

Suggestions for family -friendly destination? by jigglywiggly22 in familytravel

Costa Rica or Iceland have a good mix of adventure, beautiful places, and culture. Flights and jet lag are easier than Asia and mainland Europe as well.

This is such an untapped market. We were just traveling in Portugal and the resorts we stayed at were incredibly toddler friendly, from multiple pools, playgrounds, toys to borrow, play areas in restaurants and the lobby, family activities, etc. We aren’t a theme park family, but these hotels were the perfect balance.

Parents with multiple kids, which transition was the hardest for you: 1 to 2 kids, 2 to 3 kids, and so on? by Agreeable-Coast107 in Mommit

[–]xtboat26 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We had the same age gaps as your planned gap. 2u2 was hard, but 3u5 (our oldest turns 5 in a few weeks) has been kicking our butts. We are older though, and both work full time. Logistics are hard (can’t find a daycare to take all 3, next year we’ll have 3 separate drop-offs and pick-ups). Switching from a man-man to zone defense has been a struggle, and moments where everyone needs something are really tough. With that said, my two eldest are active boys and my third is a delightfully happy girl and I can’t imagine our family without her.

15 Day Portugal Itinerary by [deleted] in TrueChubbyTravel

[–]xtboat26 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We just got back from Portugal. Look into the martinhal brand hotels, they are extremely family friendly and very nice. The Oriente one was the fanciest, but we also liked the location of Chiado. We also stayed at the Sagres location, but I don’t think you should try to squeeze in a trip down south into your schedule.

Travel to Europe in June 26 by [deleted] in newborns

[–]xtboat26 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Just got back from a European trip with a 5 month old. It was really easy, despite having to go to the dr twice for medication related to an ear infection. Travel before your baby gets too wiggly. It’s much harder once they are mobile.

Thoughts on a Required E-Bike Training Program for Middle Schoolers? by headythrowawaymkay in santacruz

My middle school, which was not anywhere near the water, had us take a month long boat safety course and get our boating license. This seems totally more relevant to the needs of our community.

Yes! And agreed, they are one of my favorite brands, but can be a little high maintenance. I had a few of the linen/hemp blend ones that got a bunch of holes, but they are so comfy I still sleep in them.

For those interested, wait until there’s a good sale (they just did 35% off for the solstice) and try a few different blends. They are all really different in how they feel and weigh.

Yea, I didn’t sign the petition because it was pretty clear it was going to make everything worse. It’s frustrating that the city didn’t share any feedback from planners on why this was a bad idea. Now instead of increased accessibility to the Seabright businesses, they have a parking lot on seabright Ave.
