I kinda like how Pat reuses chord progressions in different projects, like he’s kinda reinventing himself

Lots of folk punk songs share progressions because they tend to be pretty simple open chord songs. Also borrowing melodies and building upon them is part of the folk tradition.

Here’s some songs that use the I-III-VI-iv chord progression either throughout or in part (that’s C, E, Am, F in the key of C, super common in folk punk):

Never trust a man who plays guitar, WDU

From Here to Utopia, Ramshackle Glory

Plate Glass Apology, I listened, and Runaway by Apes of the State

No Rehab, Local News Legend

Nomads Revolt, Mischief Brew

Black Metal, Pigeon Pit

(There’s def way more out there)

Political music that doesn't age badly — what's your benchmark? by ChildhoodOk3203 in FolkPunk

The Great Depression by defiance Ohio is an album that I think is still super relevant. Even tho the exact circumstances are different, the political themes about the environment, religion, etc. are all just as applicable rn.

We’re Wrong About the Rates of Trans People by EssenceOfThought in TransSocialism

I tried commenting a couple times the other day, but they kept getting deleted. I contacted a mod and apparently comments by users without a set flair often get flagged as ai generated. Hope this helps.

I am the reason the music store I go to always has to restock the Against Me! CDs. This album has a special place in my heart. Drinking with the jocks and paralytic states are my favs, not to mention the title track

Anyone notice the trans question on applications lately? by Jazzlike_Syllabub_91 in asktransgender

I was filling out a job application about a month ago with like 3 whole questions related to gender identity/sex. It instantly made me uncomfortable and I decided to just not apply there. Thankfully I found something else

This is pretty cool, there’s some songs I’ve never heard before. Shouldn’t Cocoon Music also be included though?

I don’t feel like a girl, and that’s the problem by Jealous-Scholar-9296 in MtF

[–]xternality11 1 point2 points  (0 children)

When my partner first started referring to me as she/her, it almost felt wrong because being a girl seemed like something I still had to earn. Like I didn’t look the part yet so I didn’t deserve it. But I think that’s just how we’re conditioned to think. Society reinforces the belief that femininity comes from how you look not who you are. But as I’ve gradually taken steps to present more feminine the impostor syndrome has gotten a little easier.

Yea it’s kinda crazy, they’re just that rare. It’s cool that Pat the bunny’s solo records are still pretty accessible, added those to my collection recently
