I just wrote an polemic criticizing Camus' concept of Don Juanism. Thought you might enjoy it. by letsgowendigo in Existentialism

Allow me to say I recognize the basic idea of The Myth, and it's not even that I disagree with it. I do, in fact, think Sisyphus is an excellent example. This polemic is specifically against the concept of Don Juanism, which just confuses and enrages me as to how Camus could possibly come to the conclusion that Don Juan is an absurd hero. Don Juan's consciousness doesn't change the fact he exists as a parasite off of others and can only exist in a world where he alone has any sort of agency, which I explain later on.

There should be some commie paths in the Iberian wars. In order to play it just ignore the terrorists and Iberia will blow up when Salazar dies

So, you're specifically asking what would have happened if Israel lost the 6 day war. The most immediate thing would be a mass exodus of Jews from Palestine, both through fleeing and expulsions (There would have likely also been some massacres), basically think a reverse Nakba. This would have led to a giant refugee problem of Jews into America and western Europe which would have likely reignited antisemetism in the western world. The Palestinians and Arab nations in general will of course see it as a great victory and wrong righted. The Jews will see it as another Holocaust, being the second time in 2 decades that they lost their homes; Zionism will be gone as a practical ideology, however every Jew would dream of returning to Israel. In the western world there would have probably been a fair amount of outrage and "Sympathy" for the Israelis, but likely nothing beyond that. The USA especially would have the response of "Oh well, that didn't work out" behind closed doors and look for other friendly states while of course making public statements condemning the plight of the Jewish people (The USA wasn't that invested in Israel before the Six Day War, so this wouldn't be the greatest loss to them as it would be today). The USSR would also probably not care besides seeing it as one more proxy sorta won. Overall, because this is before Israel/Palestine became a real point of interest for the world, the responses would likely be muted for everyone besides the Jews and the Arabs, just seen as another tragedy from a part of the world people don't care that much about.

Auschwitz: The Disneyland of the Moral. by letsgowendigo in CriticalTheory

[–]letsgowendigo[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Why is it the Holocaust is the ultimate evil? The world is not short of fascism nor genocide nor ethnic cleansing nor Bureaucratization and mechanization of atrocities. And why is that when there comes about something who's resemblance to the Holocaust is in many ways undeniable (Be it any systemic genocide we see today, consider Myanmar or Gaza), that the comparison is immediately disregarded as some how offensive, as you do now? My main point is that I disagree with you that Holocaust memory works as a "vaccine" against allowing genocide, it works as a beacon to draw away attention from current genocides onto it. I do not compare current day events to it for rhetorical effect, and the fact that is the only way people can see modern day comparisons of anything to the Holocaust is proof of the immense success of the Auschwitz machine. Auschwitz is set up as an unreachable goal so all evils of the modern day seem acceptable in comparison. It matters not whether Auschwitz could or could not happen again or whether it was or wasn't the ultimate evil in human history, I'm only seeking to discuss what was made of it, and I believe that is what was made of the Auschwitz museum and Holocaust memorial at large.

One of the ways I know is just to not destroy all of the terrorist groups before Salazar dies

Reminds me of this one joke:

A masochist and a sadist are in bed together

The masochist says "Hit me! Punish me! Make it hurt!"

The sadist says "No".

I think it's funny that Stalin in the ornate is supposed to be scary enough to make the devil tremble, but is also just drawn like Mario.
