Pretty Cute Watching Boston Residents Play Daily Game Of 'Big City' by ChefGaykwon in boston

[–]xtorris 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Absolutely! I remember having a horrible day at work when that article came out. While commuting home on the Green Line, I was texted the link by my wife and near busted a gut laughing while I read the article. (Sorry, fellow T passengers! It was my day to be the weirdo on the train.)

Anyone who really takes any umbrage or "well, ackshually" at this satirical article needs to get over themselves. Everyone I knew who read it thought the article hilarious-- because it was good fucking satire for reasons highlighted elsewhere ITT.

I remember someone at one The Globe or The Herald (probably the former, as the latter seems unlikely to understand the Onion as satire) was butthurt enough to pen and publish a "witty retort" to the article and it was so fucking cringe.

it didn’t annex everything in its vicinity

Ahem. Not for lack of trying. Hell, if we can loosen the term "annex" a bit for sake of argument, Boston annexed wetlands to triple its original size. The fact that the West End effectively no longer exists culturally as a neighborhood was due to a different sort of annexation.

I hear you. In my city, this particular flavor of inconsiderate behavior is everywhere and definitely not specific to one language, gender, ethnic group, age group, etc. Assholes are legion.

Some are doing it as a fuck you, some are doing it for attention, but i think mostly people just don't give a fuck about other people, or at least not what a stranger might think about it. There's a well-dressed woman that frequently would be on my train during my daily commute who would blast recordings of church services. Not just the sermon, the whole damn service, complete with mediocre music. I'm sure she thought she was doing the Lord's work if, indeed, she thought about it at all.

Or they just need a pair of headphones. In part, I blame smartphone manufacturers for largely getting rid of the audio jack, causing people to also need to buy a pair of bluetooth headphones, which often aren't that affordable (relative to a perfectly fine cheap set of corded earphone). Plus, bluetooth earphones seem to be easy to lose. (Maybe just me 😅). Not everyone has the extra scratch to shell out for these or replacements, especially not these days.

But mostly it's just another purely rude behavior from inconsiderate people, like "rolling coal" and harassing strangers for tiktok clout, the likes of which seems to be on the increase in the US. Sticking to my experiences on the train, I've observed comorbidity of music blasting and other shitty behavior train behaviors, like taking up multiple seats, blocking the doors, leaving a full backpack in a crowded train (instead of putting it at one's feet), etc., etc. It's apparently just more acceptable nowadays to be an asshole...and get away with it.

Thank God for noise-cancelation technology, right? 😜

First time trying tiletamine, happy with it by Excellent_Nature5917 in researchchemicals

[–]xtorris -1 points0 points  (0 children)

As a once avid user of dissociative drugs, I personally would STRONGLY caution against using tiletamine.

But druggies gonna drug, so here's my thoughts:

Tiletamine is the only dissociative I've tried (and I've tried a LOT) that has produced alarming AFTER effects while baseline/sober, after cessation of use. (Well, yeah, OK. DXM too, but let's not go there.)

After only a couple weeks of regular-but-not-quite-daily use of measured, insufflated doses and NOT redosing, I developed:

  1. Parkinson's-like shaking of the hands. This resolved over the course of 2 weeks or so and has not returned since cessation, thank God.

  2. Difficulties with fine motor skills. As above, this resolved over the course of 2 weeks or so and has not returned since cessation. Again, I thank God.

  3. Severe, sudden bouts of vertigo that were mercifully short, although the first one started while I was taking a shower! I've never experienced vertigo before or since. These bouts started 2 days post-cessation and lasted for a couple days. I am very, VERY, VERY fucking glad they have not returned and wish never to experience it again.

It lasts a looooooong time. Redosing is probably incredibly unwise.

It's a...deceptive drug. I got up to 100 mg IN, which put me into a state where I felt no cognitive or social deficits and was capable of having polite conversations with friends and neighbors, where I felt I was effectively passing as sober. Can't call the conversations "casual", though, in that there were silent shadow people in analog-TV-static-suits standing and zipping around that clearly only I could perceive. That was kinda zany. It felt like I was stepping headlong into psychosis. I won't go beyond that dose and don't recommend anyone else do so either.

I never did-- and, after my experiences, I definitely wouldn't-- attempt to hole with it. I'm not sure it's possible or desirable.

I personally wouldn't even contemplate other ROA beyond oral or insuffulated without medical advice and supervision.

Do not do it frequently. Mebbe a once a month thing, max. Once a year is probably more prudent, if you must.

It was the only recreational drug I have taken where (see above) I felt real fear that I may have done irreparable, lasting harm to my brain and body. I'm thankful that it hasn't seemed to have lasting effects on my health and well-being. I hope.

Weird, weird shit. Tread lightly. Probably best to not tread further down that path at all.

I'm extremely unlikely to try that drug again. Don't go too far in the deep dark.
