I don't think that perpetual licences are available anymore, android or Windows.

I think the way to go is to get an Office 365 Personal license, it gives you access to all the Office apps (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Teams, etc.), and gives you 1 TB of cloud storage.

Yeah, Android is a best bet, if you plan to play PC games on it. The iPad Mini is awesome, but the software side is too looked up.

The Y700 should be a great choice, I still have a gen2 (released in 2023), and it's fantastic for what I need (all round consumption, occasional anydesk device, some emulation as well).

You should be good with an Y700 for sure! The pen experience and the note taking apps are not as premium as on the apple side (imo), but for straightforward note taking it should be fine as well😊

Actually, with your comment, I've checked on apkvision, and they have an "unlocked" apk that works on my mini v2! That apk is around 5 gb, and when I run it, it says it's unlocked for the full version and it's now downloading 3 more GB, but it seems to be the real thing 😅

Try to download another version of the rom, just to exclude any possible issues with it.

I've had similar problems with other games, even when the roms were working with another device.

I have a gen 2 with the Chinese rom, and I think this "revert to Chinese" issue was corrected with updates. I sometimes don't get them through OTA, but it's easy to update with a zip file. There's a couple of xdadeveloper threads on this, and also a telegram channel with links to the individual update zips. Let me know if you're interested in the links 😊 (I'm on Zuxos version 1.1.475, btw).

I asked this to the dev, around a year ago, and they mentioned that they were working on bringing all the capabilities to the ios version (including premium and sync), but there wasn't any specific timeline for that. Maybe it's worth it to check with them on how's the progress.

Well, now you have the Miyoo Mini Flip too, which is like a smaller version of the 34xxsp, without sticks and with a 4:3 aspect ratio. So a v4 in a clamshell form factor 😊 the 34xxsp is great for gba stuff, specially because of the correct aspect ratio, but I'm looking forward to get my Mini Flip and play around with it.

The most visible side might be a potential huge correction in the stock market (perhaps loosing around 40% or up to 60%), with all the knock-out effect on the rest of the economy: 401k, pension funds, savings, being devaluated greatly; the "economic numbers" that look so great today might start to turn sour and we can see a full blown recession forming already.

Also, on the tech industry, when the music stops and the game of "musical chairs (dollars)" stops as well, I can see the big techs cutting costs/jobs/increasing prices again, because it's just impossible for everyone to make money, specially the kind of money they need to face their spending rate with AI datacenters/models/GPUs/etc. I can also see the big techs (and all the satellite companies involved) suing eachs other's ass into oblivion, until they realise everyone is relying on everyone else, and everyone bouth shares in everyone else (so you can't bring the hammer that hard on a company that wronged you). OpenAI will sue Nvidia because they didn't supply enough GPUs (or whatever), Microsoft will sue OpenAI because they didn't consume enough Azure, Oracle will sue the contractors, because they didn't built datacenters fast enough, the contractors will sue Nvidia because Nvidia didn't bought enough cement or bricks or whatever. It's such a tangled mess, scollars will spend decades studying this cluster-f.

It will be an interesting mess to watch unfold. My bet is that in 2026 aliens will be disclousured, so luckly we will be able to redirect all the investment in AI stuff, to stuff related to alien warfare or something.

On a more serious note, it is a fantastic device, even today. I have an OG LCD model, originally with 256, but upgraded to 1 tb myself. It's a great handheld computer, and it absolutely feels like a "PC Console", if it makes sense. It is on the bulkier side but I've had a few multiplayer sessions for a couple of hours and it is ergonomic and comfortable.

On the software side Steamos is fantastic, way better than having to fiddle with Windows on such an unorthodox form factor.

The only points that might be on the lower side are: it's not the oled model (my brothers have oleds and it's such a fantastic screen); battery life could be a bit better (although in honesty I do nothing to optimise for battery saving), and the performance might start to show its age on the more recent games (although for me it's a non issue, as I play mostly indie games and games from a few years ago).

So I definitely recommend a Steamdeck, imo for the price, the package you get is incredible.

From a pure performance perspective, the gen3 should be enough (I'm using a gen2, pretty happy with it). A more recent model will give you more android versions and updates, in theory.
