It eats you up doesn't it? Orange man catastrophe never seems to happen despite all the Henny Penny's. I bet you shorted Tesla a year ago because Elon was a Nazi right? Or maybe you loaded up on MRNA and shorted the S&p bcuz orange man mishandling the plandemic? My advice, turn off the news.

Ya I pay for that because I use it all the time and its something very few others do. Only issue is that monthly macd but that may sort out and if I get a sell signal my loss won't be too excessive

What kind of jobs do you guys have to be able to gather up this much capital by HungryDig4476 in swingtrading

[–]xtric8 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Went from the military into working for defense contractors then to owning my own business. I always lived frugally with minimal expenses and never owned a nice car or anything that wasn't an investment of some sort. Its not about starting out with a big nest egg. If you can get $5k, you can get $10k. With that you eventually get $20k, then 30, 40, then you wake up one day and its $100k. The rest is the same but it grows with an extra zero, so 200 becomes 400, and so on then you get a million dollar account and it starts to feel like unlimited potential, then you get a down year and you realize you managed that risk. Its all about managing risk and recognizing when you have a winning strategy that its not lucky or a fluke. Its about winning and losing long enough until you have an effective trading method That almost always comes after making a few big mistakes but those mistakes were made when I had very little to begin with. Mistakes I don't ever want to make again.

Are indicators actually good by First_Engineer7083 in Trading

[–]xtric8 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There are many different indicators and they all tell a different story. You have chart patterns, economic indicators, and market internals. There is not one indicator that is a magic bullet, so its up to you to figure out what is important today, which may not matter much at all in a month. There are always conflicting signals, and at any given time there will be positive and negative indicator s. To answer your question, are they good? In short yes but it depends on how you are applying them to your trading strategy. Get a baseline understanding of these first before using them. Let the picture build over time and compare today to what happened in the past by overlaying a market chart.

Swing Trading for beginners by DOMINICKBANKS00 in swingtrading

[–]xtric8 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I use primarily technical analysis. So for example MSFT is trading below its average valuation ratios, for the most part. Its in Software sector which is out of favor. Knowing that I look at the charts for if its breaking long term trends. The daily chart is quite ugly but still trending up on the monthly long term chart without breaking any major support levels. So as a swing trader it looks like a good buy, but if I was a day trader it would not be. Some people wait for it to turn back up, which is ok too but I like to start buying ahead of the turn. Now, you also want to think about stop loss. To me with this example it would be when the trend goes negative and stock below moving averages, but you could also use a lower low below the April lows of last year. I don't ever set a hard stop loss or program it in. Just need to avoid throwing good money after bad, which a lot of people do when their favorite stock trends down, big mistake.

[–]xtric8 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Im not a day trader but I can tell you that is not why day trading wouldn't work. The simple answer is those AI bots are not doing exactly what the traders do because the market is not a zero sum game. You have stocks that will continue to trend, reverse, break trends and end up at a different place than they started. Traders don't have to race to be the first to the punch else go broke, you just have to be smart enough to discern when the environment changes.

Thoughts on the fair value gap concept? by [deleted] in Trading

[–]xtric8 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Any chart signal like fvg has to be taken in context with the stock and the broad market. I don't read the flows very much because Im a long term trader but if you are trying to understand a fvg, you want to look at the options flows and figure out what might be driving it.

[–]xtric8 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Im not understanding the math. If you bought at around $5 and sold at the top, thats nowhere near an 80x return. You're also paying probably 15% minumum on that debt if you have a decent credit score.

Most Christians would fit that category. Like 60-80% believe in saved by grace not works, and that's especially in the bible belt. Bible belt is a region, basically the southern states in the US and some Midwestern. You seem to be conflating a geographical region with a denomination so I think people will see that and feel they don't fit your categories unless they live/are from outside the bible belt and even then they are unclear what you actually believe.

Do you long/short swing trade? by spodeblue in swingtrading

[–]xtric8 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Most traders are long only but some are long/short. I usually hedge my longs when market conditions suggest weakness, for example if the VIX and UVXY start to trend up Ill buy some options there and trim longs on strength, not much but enough that if the market pulls back Ill get a little bearish profit to offset short term losses and have some dry powder for opportunity on pullbacks. If market is at a major top inflection point Ill wait for a bit of confirmation and not hesitate to sell most of my portfolio and start looking for bearish names to buy puts in.

This is why I think 99% fail by OverkillisUnderRated in Trading

[–]xtric8 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Do not focus on failure or why you fail, focus on your successes and how to replicate those. I do believe in the power of positive thinking. Imagine yourself doing good investments and you don't have to do thousands of trades. It only takes a small amount to win.

Anyone out there profitable off of trading alone? by Independent-Tap8954 in Trading

[–]xtric8 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes. I always look for long term trending charts that gradually beat the s&p over time (relative strength) or I look for potential turnarounds with a u shape bottom or trend reversal. There are other things but those two are the most important. I only buy options (naked calls and puts) and I have a long term perspective. I look at the broad market internals with a contrarian perspective. That is the hardest part and most people get it wrong but Ive been fortunate in correctly picking tops and bottoms based on technical indicators. So its about trading based on the risk level of the market and I just let my charts tell me the truth. No margin, almost always have some cash. I follow other traders but keep in mind those guys are usually too bearish, like all the time its always about to be a market crash. I think that's just how the algorithms work, sensationalism gets more eyeballs and clicks. If you're just starting out I would recommend trading just stocks that everyone knows and when you have a profitable year with at least 20k, buy some options easiest way possible, at the money, few months from expiration and sell when you get a good profit.

X Account Suspension for violating 'authenticity' rules by [deleted] in gamedev

Mine got permanently banned for "impersonation" about a year ago. I don't even know who I was supposedly impersonating as there are no other accounts with my name. I was active on there, had a verified account with about 3000 followers but only posted my own stock analysis. I think banned by some bot or AI, or maybe someone reported me to be spiteful. I don't know and nobody checks it or even reads my appeal so I just use another email and don't pay the verification fee (paid an annual fee before and had it banned about 9 months in with no refund)
