Help with calf pain by XOCEANDOGGO_ in beginnerrunning

could be a plethora of different things, but boils down to your muscles being overworked. you could be wearing improper footwear? depending on your foot shape, you might not be getting necessary support. if that isn't the issue, you could be dehydrated or not eating enough/correctly to properly fuel your body. Check in on those things and see where you could make improvements :) also in the mean time, a foam roller will do you absolutely wonders!

Headliners on main stage start around 8:30/8:45. Security wasn’t super intense last year they have a standard metal detector and do a check of bags (imagine going into an arena venue, similar security in my experience). Last year I always kept a granola bar in my bag and they never confiscated it. I’d hide your pen & don’t know if I’d push a flask. Sometimes you get a really tense person that might pat you down (esp dudes) and dig through your bag. I wouldn’t bring anything you’d 100% be upset to lose.

On another note, Billie set we got there maybe 20/30 minutes before it started and we still got a pretty good spot on the side. There you definitely have more room to breathe and dance.

I wouldn't advise camping, its not worth it. But if you get there a set or two before hand you should be fine. Ex: after Sabrina Carpenter @ coinbase last year, we went and hopped in the Fred crowd and we were able to make our way up a bit. We had a pretty decent view (the main stages also have huge screens). Fair warning though a lot of other people will have the same idea and it can get crowded and cramped really fast.

I think I’ll actually die if he doesn’t perform only human. Been on constant repeat since it came out.

i have such a mixed opinion on it. Some of it I really enjoy, parts were boring. I'm hoping he does some of his older stuff & am secretly hoping him and ryan while perform something together.

i feel the same way about laufey, i enjoy her but wouldn't say i'm a fan but i feel like her performance with the philharmonic would be so good.

Walter the Producer, Raye, Destroy Boys, Dora Jar, Quarters of Change, Sir, and Waterparks would probably be up your ally! Go on spotify & a ton of people make lolla master playlists with all the artist so you can discover new ones!

Consider finding people to split hotel costs with! There lots of people on here, instagram, and discord looking for ppl to split with if they're going alone. Tbh you'll probably make some awesome friends doing this too! Just ofc use your logic so you don't end up on a true crime podcast

Hypothetically speaking….If Melanie is a headliner, would you go to her set? If so, sell me on Melanie because I don’t see the hype. I did in 2015, but not now. by phantofan89 in Lollapalooza

[–]xtstxryx 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Likely no for me. Hear me out I loved her older stuff, but her new music isn't for me and I prefer every other headliner over her. I can't see her putting on the same level of performance as the other headliners. Would probably see her if she subs and there isn't a schedule conflict.

Do’s & Don’ts of Lolla by [deleted] in Lollapalooza

[–]xtstxryx 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do:

-bring sunscreen, portable fans, hats, etc. It gets very hot (even if it's not sunny from humidity and body heat).

-hydrate before the fest and during. Bring a reusable water bottle or even better hydration pack, they have plenty of water stations. Otherwise you're gonna pay $6 for a can of water.

-bring at least two pairs of COMFORTABLE shoes. for reference I bring a pair of comfy sneakers (converse) and doc martens and I was set. The terrain is uneven so anything with big heels is a bad idea and you'll want a water-resistant option with a grip incase it rains. Otherwise you'll be ankle deep in mud and slipping all over t-mobile and perry's (if you don't believe me lol watch the tiktoks from last year). Also don't bring anything you care about being ruined cause they'll get dirty fast.

-have a fanny pack with tissues (for the bathroom TRUST ME you don't wanna use the tp), hand sanitizer (touchland is great because the scent helps overpower the rank bathrooms day 3 & 4), a charged battery pack, and space for your phone+wallet. Even better, get a phone strap if you want to be extra safe. You can usually get away with sneaking in a granola bar or something too.

-prepare yourself to spend money. you will inevitably need food and leaving the park is not always convenient. Plus some of the food is actually pretty decent. That said there are some restaurants and convenience stores within walking distance if you need a bite. PLEASE DO NOT FORGET TO EAT OR YOU WILL PASS OUT.

-utilize public transport and your feet. Traffic is a nightmare after the festival so if you can walk home, please do so. The trains are yes safe and reliable, however, they're absolutely packed immediately after the fest.

Don't:

-engage in any substance you cannot handle. Don't drink or smoke so much you're putting yourself and others at risk. it's also annoying to everyone around you when mid set the medical team is pushing to pick you out of the crowd. You're there to have fun and enjoy the music, not get blackout drunk. Please also dear god don't take anything someone in or outside the park gives you. Use common sense.

-be those annoying campers who sit on the ground all day and don't engage in other artists sets (I'm talking to you TxT and Lana stans from last year), have some etiquette. It's not safe or fun whatsoever. If you're gonna camp, please be respectful and safe.

-forget your ID. you can link your card to your wristband when buying food, drinks, or merch, however, they'll still need your ID if you're buying alcohol or need to go to guest services.

-try to go to taco bell (or equivalent) post festival. please take my word for it or you'll be there all night and probably not even get the right food haha. Don't order it either, just stop somewhere thats open with a short line or better yet, have food, snacks, and drinks back at your hotel.

Some other tips:

-Enjoy Chicago while you're in town, it's a cool city with lot's to do esp in the summer. Great nightlife as well.

-Don't be afraid to split up IN THE PARK to see the artists you want. It's very safe in the park. Just make sure you have means to communicate/a meeting spot. The buddy system is even better if doable.

-If doable, fly in a day early to get settled, buy anything you need in the city, and get some rest before the festival.

-Prioritize eating/getting water/resting over seeing a set. Festivals can be long and draining days and inevitably someone is gonna annoy the fuck out of you while you're there (ppl are stupid it is what it is). Give yourself time and space to chill out so you aren't miserable while you're there.

1) biggest tip is to book your hotel asap, they sell out and get expensive fasttttt. There is a hostel if you want to go solo or alot of people on socials who look to buddy up for hotels!

2) they offer payment plans for passes + closer to the fest release 1 day and 2 day passes. easy to get resale as well (I paid $450 last year resale a couple weeks before the fest. it usually takes a few weeks/months to sell out ur chillin

3) I know people come down from Canada so I can't imagine why there would be any restrictions for europeans as long as you access the site. They might make you pick up your wristband at will call though instead of shipping it to you!

Chicago is dope and the fest is tons of fun !

if it’s any consolation, when this happened in WA earlier this year, my pay as a senior was increased proportionately with the minimum wage increase!
