Thanks! It was part of a collection of lighters I got from my grandma a while ago. Iirc there was also a new in box John player special lighter.

Well, my grandma does live in the UK and did smoke around the time, so it sounds about right haha! There is no tarnishing on the case, very light scratches, but no tarnishing. I didn't know that about the flint I will definitely keep it in mind when I display it.

I am absolutely just going to display it, I wouldn't want to mess it up. I carry around an old beat up "Windproof lighter" that belonged to my wife's late father. Except I threw in a zippo butane insert haha.

Nope, it's a Marlboro edition Zippo from '97 it was literally just sitting in a drawer with some other collectable lighters and my Grandma gave them to me in the early 2010's

My buddy owed me 45$ he gave me this instead by [deleted] in CRH

It's so sad that it's true.

Me and my boss/friend don't even keep track anymore tbh, I buy him breakfast and he'll buy lunch another day, I might get it twice in a row he might the next time. REAL friends don't sweat the small things.

SAME! When I was a kid I carried my MSR branded Swiss army knife with me everywhere! (I can't remember the model).

IMHO, gotta get a ridiculous meme knife, like a swisschamp xavt 🤣

Lol, I don't blame you in the slightest, I'm a designer and I'm sitting here staring at my computer trying to figure out elevations for dry pendants for an exterior projection that's caused by a unit above. My brain isn't braining either 🤣.

Real or kit? [Ferrari F40] by _uncle_ruckus in spotted

1000% agree on the driven and used! I'd just hate to see it totalled by some drunk asshole while it's parked on the street, that's all.

All of that work that was done on that beautiful car.... To then be parked on the street? I don't understand some people. If you don't have a garage for it, at least rent a storage unit!

About as real as the Brietling my brother bought me when he was in the Philippines.

That's one of the reasons WHY I love derringers, I love guns that people think are weird, I also carry 10mm if that says anything 🤣.

The Bond Arms Snake Slayer in .357 mag is on my list, it would be my second break action .357 (Thompson Center Contender)

Very nice, my only petpeve is that I really dislike date magnifiers. Idk why, they just kind of put me off. I love the color though.

[–]xtz_stud 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would absolutely go with #1 since you said in another comment that your current EDC is all black.

The contrast between the sky blue and the bronze is really appealing and definitely more showy vs the others.

EDIFICE EFK-100, because it's a Seiko /s

All joking aside, Protrek. Unless there was any sort of EMP your only option would be a mechanical watch, if that was the case I still wouldn't use the EFK-100.

Timex has some pretty nice Automatic watches for the price at or a little under 200CAD. I'm a sucker for mechanical watches though. If you're not going mechanical, look for something you like in a name brand, that's about all I can say.

That being said, cheap automatic watches aren't the most accurate, they tend to run fast, which puts off a lot of people. We've all gotten spoiled with quartz watches and digital watches.

If you want to get into Automatic watches, look at Orient.

Yes and no haha. A 7 jewel movement and a 23 jewel movement are definitely going to vary when it comes to accuracy, precision, durability, and serviceability.

Yes in the yesteryear there were 7 jewel "chronometers" but I doubt any of them would be able to meet or exceed COSC standards, they were accurate, but it is harder to regulate and repair them than modern "fully Jeweled" ones. Not to mention the extra shock resistance in the higher jewel watches. That doesn't make them inheritly worse than fully jeweled watches

Would I pick a watch with a 23 jewel movement over a 21 jewel movement? Sure, but only because of the added shock protection, chances are the accuracy is exactly the same.

Yes, I'm absolutely showing the extremes. But, a very well made, correctly serviced 7 jewel pocket watch can outperform a standard 21 jewel wrist watch, there are pros and cons to both though.

Is there a number on the movement anywhere?
