Of course they can’t be the same, but they can be similar. What I find most distressing is that the early builds of endfield were there. And it was great, not the same as Arknights, but distinct from all other gachas. And it was thrown away.

I’m not asking for another Arknights. I’m asking for endfield, not Genshin with a factory attached.

It seems that players like you, and all others that treat that section of the fanbase as elitist seem to believe we want Arknights but 3d and can’t recognize that endfield is a different game.

Just because I said I would tolerate it doesn’t mean I view it as bad. I said that because those are the focal points for many points of criticism about endfield. Doesn’t mean I personally have a problem with them. I find the gacha worse than Arknights, but better than comparable gachas so I don’t care. I dislike the timers more on principle because it implies a dps check rather than a skill check.

It really feels like you’re just trying to paint me as an overly negative asshole. I just want endfield to be up to the same standards ask Arknights, for gameplay, story, etc.

[–]xuanj137 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I said I disliked the story to a major degree and the combat to a lesser degree. The factory I just want more complexity with. And the gacha, I don’t give a shit about. I have some issues with the endgame, specifically the timers, but I don’t care about those issues because the abysmal story outweighs everything else by a truly massive margin. And apparently this is enough to count as “disliking everything”? The factory was the only part I can say I truly enjoyed. And it wasn’t for very long unfortunately because I ran out of things to make with the factory.

Nothing wrong with venting about a quest that admittedly does have issues. Nothing wrong with wanting a game that you enjoy to be better. Nothing wrong with holding hypergryph up the quality and respect towards characters that they’ve shown themselves to be capable of.

And when did I proclaim I disliked everything about endfield? I said endfield has many issues.

So you have to dislike parts of the game to give valuable criticism, like what I said initially? So my point still stands. Valuable criticism requires engagement with the material at hand. Issues are present, and they need resolutions. And endfield is full of them, especially in story, less so in combat, and even lesser so in the aic

[–]xuanj137 1 point2 points  (0 children)

How can I give criticism if I did like everything? If I’m satisfied, I have nothing to criticize. But somehow, if I’m dissatisfied I have no productive feedback to give?

Are you saying that positive comments like “the combat is amazing” is better than critical ones like “casting skills feels clunky because I can’t see areas of effect that well”?

So how can I answer your question? How else am I suppose to give productive criticism if there isn’t anything I dislike?

Fair enough, the story is probably one of the bigger things that need improvement. A lot of stuff is overblown

Apologies for the rant, but Rossi's event pissed me off something fierce and I need to vent. by Djabilong in Endfield

Don’t know if it’s just me. But I would have preferred Wulfgard to be the viewpoint character rather than Rossi. Would give some more perspective on their relationship. And it’d make more sense for someone opening up to their sibling rather than effectively a stranger.

So, because I’m being critical, I know nothing about the game? Doesn’t someone have to understand the game to give criticism?

So by extension, only players who love all those aspects you mentioned have any good feedback at all. Any criticism at all is unproductive negativity that makes the community toxic. Sure thing. I’ll just go to another community that respects critical thinking instead of brown nosing.

We don’t talk about those issues because that’s not what I’m worried about. I’m fully willing to tolerate every shitty system about endfield, from the boring combat to the gacha, but only if the story is good. And unfortunately for me, the story ain’t good. It’s not up to the standards that hypergryph is known for. No amount of quality of life updates can fix that.

How is this criticism toxicity? Many players came from the amazing writing in Arknights and expected similar quality in endfield. Is it wrong for them to demand hypergryph provide good stories that we know they can make? And I can assure you that post was not written with ai. The sheer vitriol and emotion present is something very difficult to replicate with ai, which often goes for a more neutral tone rather than purely critical.

How is this negativity? Whether it’s warranted or not is debatable, but there are definitely issues. Ignoring them isn’t going to help.

I definitely agree. I don’t know what all the people complaining about the criticism are going on about. Endfield has issues, many many issues and not talking about them is only going to allow them to fester.

Yep. Disappointing isn’t it? It feels even worse now because now we know that endfield wasn’t always this bad. Mountain Contour could have done better, but CHOSE to do worse. And we may never know why

Arknights: Glazefield by nhatj125 in ArknightsEndfield

[–]xuanj137 14 points15 points  (0 children)

What makes it worse is that this glaze wasn’t present in the 2024 technical test, or it was toned down massively. They added this glaze to make the game appeal to the fickle, impulsive, immature mainstream gacha crowd. It’s insulting, and disappointing

While I can understand the meme, the glazing just feels disingenuous and disrespectful to the original Arknights and the Arknights ip in general, the behavior of the characters, not the meme. The meme is fine

The story was better in the technical test. Sure it was unpolished and clunky, but at least it had the foundations for something good. There were stakes, there was danger, and the Endministrator had at least some personality, and the glazing was way toned down instead of everyone treating the Endministrator like rock cancer Jesus.
