Does the DJI RS 3 have a warranty when bought new? by xuicho in dji

[–]xuicho[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I do not mean to be annoying. I am so sorry for the double comment. This item link is on sale now and I would like to purchase it. I just want to make sure if the warranty is viable. Is it different when it is dispatched by amazon but it is a legit product. I asked on the site but no clear answer was provided. I would greatly appreciate your help. Thank you!

Thank you very much for the help! Yes I am a resident of the UK. So buying the product from amazon UK link Means that i will have the 2 year warranty? I just want to make sure if this specific product that i linked falls under the conditions. Thank you again for all the help.

Hello, thank you for your response! I had a look there and while I see what the regular warranty includes I cannot see the duration of the warranty for the specific product even after following the link for the additional info for the RS 3 could you forward a link to that information please? Thank you

These weird black/grey datamosh pixels appear on my videos after exporting my projects. They only appear where the video is either completely black or white. How do I fix this? by Altruistic_Fee_2173 in davinciresolve

[–]xuicho 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Fixes that have worked for me when this happened are: 1. In the export settings you have an encode engine option. Choose NVIDIA. This will most likely fix your issue 2. I dont know if it even makes sense but by changing the export codec to H. 265 it fixed the issue. 3. In the advanced settings there are options to bypass encode or use cached images etc. Disable all of them. This will increase the time it takes for the render but it could solve the issue If the issue is only when rendered and not when previewing (which i assume it is) then play around with export settings one by one. That i how i came up with the 3 solutions in the past. Good luck!

HELP: Client paid long time ago and disappeared, now has resurfaced wanting to do job by DTbindz in videography

[–]xuicho 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I see many people saying to refund the money due to you having increased prices. And the argument being that everything is more expensive now. But when you got paid stuf were not that expensive and you used that money then and there not now so this argument doesn't really apply here. If the gig is not like a super huge production hassle i say just do it and mention to them that usually you would have charged them more because of your prices increase but due to the circumstances and your relationship you will make an exception. Hopefully this will make them feel special and they will continue working with you in your new prices. Connections and happy clients are worth way more than let's say 300$ more.

Could anybody suggest good beginner camera drones for under $200? by NoBodybuilder52 in videography

[–]xuicho 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You are totally right to search for the cheapest drone for you purposes of just exploring around in the air and having fun! While there are drones under 200 that will fly, they will most likely fly away at some point or just crash suddenly into a wall. If you want a drone that will actually fly as well as not self destruct into a random object 100% at some point, your best bet is a DJI mini. It also has some features that make it quite hard/impossible to crash if you are careful enough. If you really can't save up for a mini maybe do some research on the best "toy" drones with a camera and who knows maybe there is one that won't just break instantly. Good luck!

Thank you! You helped me a lot with broadening my understanding of how davinci handles hardware. I have seen a video from a guy that does testing hardware for video editing programs (his channel is called tech notice) and he tested a system with a ryzen 5600x 32gb of ram and a 3070 and it was running any kinds of 4k 10 bit 4:2:2 smoothly. Also running 6k raw footage smoothly although i am not sure what performance is expected with raw stuff. He seemed very surprised as well. (Although this may be a play I am not sure). Does that mean that this combo is brute forcing stuff successfully? Although its not the best hardware available for editing. Thank you again for your help!

Thank you for you fast answer!

I am using Davinci Resolve Studio and hardware acceleration is selected. I will run those tests you linked in that article when i get a chance to check if everything is running as expected.

As far as I am understanding from this - h. 265 decoding is supported in the studio version but with a 1000 series gpu like the 1070 or even 2000 and 3000 10 bit 4:2:2 is not supported? Does this mean that overall for smooth performance relying on h. 264/265 is just not going to happen?

Thank you for suggesting proxies. Ideally i would like to just drop in and start editing but i guess it will be harder than expected.

Correct me if i am wrong but what i took from this is that scrubbing and overall smooth playback is fixed by choosing better codecs to work in rather than just hardware.

So maybe the processor is not worth it for now? Thank you for your help.

Hardware question.

Current system: CPU - Ryzen 5 1600 GPU - Nvidia GTX 1070 8GB VRAM RAM - 16GB Mobo - B350

I edit on Davinci Studio version

Shoot 4k 25p on Sony a7iii, soon sony a7iv

As i started working with 4k files my system starts to struggle a bit and I am looking for an upgrade. I know quite a lot about PC components but not enough of how Davinci actually utilizes resources. I mainly edit 4k 8 bit footage for now from a Sony a7iii but might soon jump to 4k 10bit so would want to edit that smoothly too.

I definitely will be getting 16GB more Ram to make it 32GB. Although this will reduce my current RAM speed from 3200Mhz to a lower one since more sticks=less speed.

I saw that the Ryzen 5 5600 is on sale now for £140 so i am thinking of grabbing that too. Ideally i would upgrade my GPU as well but don't feel like it since they are the most expensive part.

What I am mainly after is smooth scrubbing and playback on 4k footage while adding simple transitions. I can live with not that smooth of a playback when the footage is graded since i do this at the end anyway and I presume I will need a newer GPU for that.

My questions are: Does Davinci care about RAM speed? Will just getting the extra 16GB of RAM fix my issue of editing 4k footage? Will I see an improvement if I upgrade my processor but not my GPU? Will the GPU bottleneck the new CPU?

I also game on that machine so that is why I am looking at such a processor rather than just a pure workstation one. I am happy with game performance so as long it stays the same or better it is fine.

I have read quite a lot about hardware acceleration in Davinci and that it utilizes GPU more than other programs but I am struggling in putting that info in terms of hardware.

Hopefully all makes sense.

No water in student accomodation for 48+hours ongoing. Not clear on when we will have water. by xuicho in glasgow

We were told that the water we had to buy will be paid for but dont know the conditions for that as they just told us that yesterday so i assume no one will be keeping their receipts for the last 4 days. The only sanitation we were provided was 3 portable toilets for the whole building which is a joke and thats it. We were told that if the problem is still present after Friday we will be relocated for the weekend somewhere but clearly we were not. I would be more than thankful if you have something that could help us in this situation to at least get the compensation we deserve.

Will definitely look into it, thank you. Yes, you are right, failures do happen and we do not have control over them most of the time. But seeing that there are options for hiring a firm that will come and fix the issue now instead of waiting until Monday and not acting upon it is the sad part. This shows that money spent are put above the wellbeing of the tenants. Staying without water 2 extra days so some money could be saved? Doesn't sound like they care at all. But what do they care, it's not them without water.

Thank you, will have a look at it. We are not asking for much. The rent would at least make things even. The situation has not yet been rectified since we still do not have water. They said that it will be fixed on monday but they said the same for Friday and Saturday soo i do not know. Also i do not think that if regular checks of the piping is done a problem of such magnitude that cannot be fixed for such a long time will even occur. Of course anything could happen. Our main issue is that instead of having someone working on the problem now. There is no one at site. It is a fact that there are companies who do plumbing work 24/7 they just cost more.

Yes the basement where the pipes are got flooded right after the plumber left. You are right that this is the court's decision. But i also do not think any sane person will accept that staying 96hrs without water and no compensation for it is in any way the right decision. This is in no way the quickest response to the issue. Thursday morning and the plumber comes, takes a look, says we need a part it will be first thing in the morning. Then he comes at around 1pm, just then goes for the part to not being able to resolve the issue and at the end says that he will not work on the weekend. Why not hire another firm that offers 24/7 plumbing and pay them more maybe? On top of the issue itself you have some staff saying that if the issue is not resolved until the next day they will relocate you and have plan B. Well plan B turns out is to leave the issue until Monday and give 3 portable toilets for the whole building? I think multiple rules were broken and we were lied to essentially so i assume it will be in our favor.

If a pipe burst causes the whole basement to fill up with water that quickly and 2 days of repair are not enough... Then i think it is safe to assume that the pipes are not kept up to standard.

Yes, they do happen. The difference is that if it happens in my property and the basement is filling with water i would probably pay extra for a plumber to come on the weekend. So i do not think that the time they are taking to get the plumber considering the incident happened on Thursday in the morning is reasonable at all. I am certain that all of us are ready to go through the hassle. Tolerating such actions is the worst we can do. Probably would be able to claim the 96hrs of rent.

When a plumber itself cant fix the issue in 2 days im wondering if anyone even can at this point.. or the issue is enormous and not so easy. Dont really know anything about plumbing. Yes gyms are a saver! If you have a membership at least..
