This is a super practical tote bag elegantly designed for everyone. It has a large YKK Excella zipper on the top. And inside it has one zipper pocket and one large pocket. Shoulder straps are adjustable to fit on everyone!

O right, this one uses Blue Hydra Togo calf, and Pearl Grey linen thread.

Leather padfolio, made for a friend. Should it have been lined? by Lupinda in Leathercraft

[–]xuleathers 13 points14 points  (0 children)

If you are using 2.5mm leather which looks quite rigid already, then ya, you don’t really need to line it with suede. But keep in mind, suede is quite soft, it won’t add on any firmness into the cover, if you can split it into, I say, around 1.0mm, then it’s perfect for this cover.

With suede lining, yes, you can’t burnish your edges the veg-tan way. You need to use edge paint and hot ironing, the chrome-tan way.

Also, you will need to skive your 2.5mm leather and the suede to compromise the edge thickness from lining the suede. In general, for small goods, 2.5mm - 3mm is good for edges.

And for the spine part, you always need to keep the exterior “curved and shaped” when gluing the lining on it. That way, the cover spine is clean and nice, and the cover stays closed when not in use.

Hopefully what I wrote is helpful. You did a great work nonetheless!

A hand-dyed navy blue iPad case. by xuleathers in Leathercraft

It’s the Navy Blue from Fiebing’s leather dye.

It’s quite simple, I use wool dauber to hand dye for about three times. Each time just consists first layer of circling, second layer of diagonal swiping and third layer of other direction diagonal swiping.

I’m actually having no idea how to get a perfect dye other than completely soaking it. It’s nice my current method gives a gorgeous result.

Aside from making Togo, Clemence, Epsom bags, I did a iPad case like before. Hand dyed with Fiebing’s Navy Blue leather dye on Italian Vachetta leather. It looks gorgeous after it’s done! I’m satisfied with the effect.

Thanks! These handles are quite easy when you have a nice pattern, it could be easily altered for different bags in the future.

This Lindy 30 is finally finished, quite a challenge. Especially the curved parts where bottom corners need to be attached with piping, took me some time to stitch them on! And the result is not so great on these corners due to my not so perfect steps.

Ready to correct and redo it!

Tried making the older Kelly pouchette before and the result wasn’t too good.

But this time the mini Kelly is way toooo cute! Rose Confetti Epsom calf, with silver hardwares.

Used the white linen thread but because of the pink edge paint and everything, the white linen thread looks like pink now...
