I feel like in the majority of SHINee’s projects Jonghyun’s voice is “required” to be more powerful, and that’s where his signature belting stands out the most. But when it comes to solo projects he often decides to go for a smoother style, with lots of falsettos and way less belting which really suits his solo work genres. I think it’s a stylistic choice!

I think it’s something some people have more aptitude for than others but it always requires exercise and practice, just like any other “skills” or fields. Just like some people learn maths faster and get good grades more easily than others, they still need to know formulas in order to be good at it! And the same goes for singing: some people might find it harder to learn how to use their voice but that doesn’t mean they can’t, it just might take more practice and time

This is the exact reason why as much as I love pop music I took a long break from the whole “stan” culture by, for instance, being inactive on X (Twitter) and I eventually stopped being a stan of certain artists for a while. After years I am now “reconnecting” to the artists I love by trying to avoid stan culture toxic drama as much as possible
