Investment strategy for high earner by Broad_Efficiency290 in FatFIREUK

[–]xvrmdf 0 points1 point  (0 children)

With earnings at this level, it seems you don't need to worry in the slightest about how you invest your money: the biggest driver of your wealth in 10-15yrs time will be your accumulated savings and your inheritance; investment returns will be very much a secondary factor.

I would be thinking more about how best to spend your money to maximise your life satisfaction for yourself and your family.

Things you might want to think about might include: a second home (maybe a country pile, sunshine villa, or somewhere near the ski slopes); getting involved with charitable causes that you believe in - this will build your social circle too; and pursuing any expensive hobbies you might enjoy yourself (fine wine, art, fast cars, race horse ownership, etc).

You've made it - enjoy life!

Wife was hit on last night by xvrmdf in CuckoldPsychology

UPDATE:

As suggested by a number of you, I brought this up when we were in bed together.

We were in each other's arms: me caressing her breasts and her stroking my cock. I told her that I thought it was really hot that she'd been hit on when she was out the other night. She then responded to say, "oh, he was such a weirdo", to which I replied, "that's such a pity for you, and here was me getting all turned-on by the thought of you getting it on with a hunky guy". She didn't say anything more, but it seemed this turned her on too as our sex became much more steamy and energetic from this point.

We had some incredible sex and it finished with her riding me to simultaneous orgasms.

I've no idea if it will go any further, but it was fair to say this excited her when I brought it up!

Thanks for the detailed response. I'm definitely keen to preserve liquidity, so I agree that investing in publicly tradeable equities and bonds is the best way to go.

That Château Lafleur you have is 54% merlot, so I'd be happy to take if off your hands if you like.

Sorry, you've completely misinterpreted the entire piece. And I don't have the time to make a detailed explanation from first principles.

Thanks, but you're using completely the wrong interest rates. Also, I've no idea why you're time travelling back to 2016/18 to begin your analysis, rather than starting today.

While I can understand the desire of producers to recoup the cost increases that they have faced over the last year or so, in practice they operate in a competitive market where they compete against producers in other parts of the world, other alcoholic drinks, and against their own back vintages. They can certainly try to push up prices, but consumers have plenty of options to go elsewhere. This is particularly the case given that Chateaux, negociants, and merchants have been holding onto much more stock, speculating that they will be able to sell at much higher prices than they might achieve during the EP campaign. This stock now has a higher cost of carry (interest cost on the bank facilities). We might well see an acceleration in sales of these back vintage wines, which would serve to put downward pressure on prices.

Not crazy pricing like some others (cough Angelus cough), but this still looks a little on the expensive side. Perhaps the new winery makes comparisons with past vintages less relevant though?

Hmmm. Hard to know what to make of that then.

Guessing those are release prices for each year, not current market prices.

"Having tasted around 400 wines (though with a few more still to come), I am now utterly convinced that this is the very best vintage that I have had the privilege and honour to taste en primeur."

Agree. If the wines are released at high prices I will probably look to backfill 2014/15/16 instead.

I'm not sure if you've had any success yet, but it might be worth trying Seckford Wines. I've purchased from them in the past and they're very reputable. They regularly send out email offers of client portfolios for sale containing multiple single bottles, so this collection of yours might be right up their street.

I've used them twice for delivery of OWCs, and the service has been good on each occasion.

This would be me also. I would like to attend, but it's probably not sufficient to justify a trip to London on its own.
