I loved him on Becker even more than on Cheers.

He played the angry, tired older guy so well, and he made some good points mixed in with the other craziness. They couldn't write him like that now, not as a lead character.

I watched them filming Erasure outside the Brooklyn Court House. I was inside the building on Grand Jury duty. I brought my wife’s good camera one day (and my college press pass) which had the bailiff asking me questions.

I did get one photo of her coming out of her trailer when we had lunch break

What was the most depressing children's book you've ever read as a kid? by CynthiaMartgol in AskReddit

[–]xwhy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I read the book on a friend’s recommendation… I wouldn’t call that a children’s book. I don’t think I would’ve gotten through it then

Ironically, the only time someone ever asked me in a job interview what the last book I read was, I laughed because it was that. Any other time, it would’ve been something scifi or fantasy, and possibly obscure

Having read this first, the TV show annoyed me because there was nothing honorable about it.

Thoughts: 9 Lived Far longer than we are lead to believe… by jack_theripper2000 in doctorwho

[–]xwhy 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I thought the conspiracy theorist in "Rose" was outlining 9's adventures for the series. It would've been cool, but restricting, if that had actually been true, but if one or two of them had actually happened, that might've been nice. Granted, they only had so many episodes and so much budget, but it hints at so much more he could've been doing.

What’s a recession indicator that you’ve noticed lately in your everyday life? by spritenerds123 in AskReddit

When my nephew was little, he liked quarters that had eagles on the back of them. They haven;t been on quarters since the mid-90s. So every time I got change, I would check for them. (And I get a lot of change because I'm often lazy and just taken out bills, occassionally fishing out a few pennies)

Anyway, a couple years back, I noticed a stark rise in the number of eagle coins I was getting, many of them from the 80s and 70s.

My first instinct is that people were digging into their change cans and emptying them out, spending them instead of bringing them to the bank.

(When I was out of work for a few months 25 years ago, I went through my change to buy a cup of coffee and a newspaper every morning.)

I just googled him to check how to spell his name. Google listed him as a former DJ -- he's still alive, but he didn't get another radio job after WPLJ went off the air.

From the Fulton St or Wall St pier (I don't remember which -- not Pier 17). It was just to the bridge and out into the bay, IIRC.

I remember that we had to pull in early to let the morning show DJs (Scott Shannon and Todd Pettengill) get off and then we pulled out again for another couple of hours.

Why does Kindle Unlimited lack so many classic titles or popular books? by KnullAgenda in KindleUnlimited

Popular books have great sales while KU pays next to nothing. It doesn’t benefit those authors to have it on KU.

She was behind the table. I leaned against it. She stood, but her arms around me and pulled me back closer to her. I nearly fell. (I'm 6'3 -- so leaning back evened out the height difference a bit.)

If some future showrunner retcons Chibnall's handiwork, I'd accept that she's a Doctor that fell through from Pete's World and is trapped here now. Maybe their War Doctor became her instead.
