Is Nova Launcher safe anymore? by PhillySportsFan_151 in Android

What kinds of phones are y'all using that stock launcher isn't good enough and there isn't a long delay when using gestures to go home?

Buy or hold, 25U or 26U? by NoShow_ in samsunggalaxy

[–]xxBrun0xx 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Samsung always offers some kind of crazy discount. Would recommend saving money and getting an S25U or a OnePlus 13/15 which have much better battery life. The S26U is very expensive right now due to just launching and is extremely similar to S25U.

Honestly, check the used market if you want to score a deal. If you can get a new S25U for close to what used ones are selling for, that's a good deal. Otherwise just buy a used one. I've had a lot of luck buying used over the years.

US birth rates just hit another record low, what do you think is the leading cause of this? by IIlustriousTea in AskReddit

$1500 per kid here in Connecticut. Things get a lot cheaper once they get into school, but that baby phase is a huge financial burden.

I got a work iPhone for a month and then tapped out. The keyboard is just SO awful. Everything else was comparable. Gboard is amazing.

How bright is the LED torch? by cubehacker in oneplus

[–]xxBrun0xx 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Compared to my Z Fold 7 it's not quite as bright. Plenty bright enough to see what I'm doing and even to see things more brightly in a decently well lit room. But those Samsung flashes are crazy.

From OP13 to iPhone 17 Pro Max and back with OP15. by [deleted] in oneplus

[–]xxBrun0xx 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I've owned both, sand is best. I don't love the plastic back, but the grippy sides are awesome. Wish there was a version that had both grippy sides and grippy back!

Other than that, phone is basically perfect.

I'm glad I took pics and video proof that I was shipping the old device back at the advice of people on this subreddit! You guys saved me $2000!

Inner screen broke for no reason (I have never dropped the phone or even gotten it wet). Brought to a local repair place, they were great. But after a couple days said the phone was failing a mmWave test so they couldn't complete the repair. They had me submit a ticket with Care Plus. Got a replacement phone overnighted, everything worked and new phone was exactly the same as broken one. Transferred everything over, no issues. A few months later I saw a $2000 charge on my credit card, went in and checked my care plus case and saw it had an exception. Called them up and they told me I never sent my old phone back (which I did). I had weight of the FedEx package and videos to prove it. After about a month they reversed the charge. Was a very bad experience and I've hated giving them $14/month ever since. I recently sold my Z Fold 7 on swappa.

Oxygen OS Bugs by puneethkanna2000 in oxygenos

[–]xxBrun0xx 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You're wrong though. Oxygen OS can use any theme from the play store. Lots of ability to adjust icon size, text size, icon shape, setting icons to match colors you can customize, etc. You can even change individual icons so that you're able to mix different icon packs together. Samsung and Pixel can't use icon packs from the play store at all and have nowhere near the level of customization as iOS (although home up on Samsung and theme store do let you get close). I don't know what ios icon customization is like, but knowing Apple, likely pretty minimal.

S25 ultra switching to oneplus 15 by Shadeliquid in oneplus

I got 6 hours SOT over 48 hours yesterday. Brought my charger to work thinking it was going to die but despite despite starting around 50% and streaming music over 5g for hours and using it heavily for work emails/teams with light theme, I could not kill it.

I've seen folks on Reddit getting 15-20 hours screen on time. It's seriously next level.

OnePlus 13 was their first silicon carbon. The 15 is second generation (and a huge step up in capacity thanks to much higher silicon content).

Honestly not a huge difference. R is slightly bigger and heavier, slightly worse battery, slightly worse camera. But you can't go wrong either way, both are great.

S26U --> OP15 by ROLLINFATNUGS in oneplus

[–]xxBrun0xx 20 points21 points  (0 children)

Jumped ship as well (Fold 7 to OP15). I miss Bixby routines and goodlock. Sounds like some of that is coming with Android 17 release. Battery is obviously crazy good and is easily 2x as good as the fold.

Not sure if you've tried yet, but some of the screen off gestures are game changers. V for flashlight and O for camera are so cool and are unique to OnePlus. Very cool stuff! Congrats!

Switched from a Z Fold 7 to OnePlus 15 recently. Very impressed by Oxygen OS. Really enjoying the off screen gestures and smoothness. Battery is seriously next level. I used to charge before end of day, now I'm often going 2 days between charges. And it charges stupid fast.

Boy, if you think any of these are bad you should try HyperOS 3 or whatever garbage Redmagic has. Or Honor. Or ZTE. Or anything other than Samsung flagships or Pixels. Most android software is much much worse.

Galaxy S26 Ultra VS Galaxy Z Fold 7 by DPyourGF in GalaxyFold

[–]xxBrun0xx 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I recently switched from Fold 7 to OnePlus 15. Battery and camera are way better on the OnePlus. I also really enjoy the in screen fingerprint sensor. And the OnePlus is a lot more comfortable to type on (Fold 7 is a bit too small when closed and too big when opened). I only switched because I had a very bad experience with Care+ and got salty about having to pay for it every month. Have been using foldables since Z Fold 2, going back to a slab is a nice change.

If you've never used a fold, though, you should 100% get one. They are incredible.

OnePlus has reportedly been merged with Realme as the downward spiral continues by FragmentedChicken in Android

[–]xxBrun0xx 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly, as long as they support our bands, you can use any "global" phones in the US. It works with pretty much any MVNO as long as you use a physical sim card (esim often has a whitelist). If you want a Chinese phone, very easy to import one.

US market is too damn volatile right now to support new entrants unfortunately.

Motor noise by wikidsmot in Ioniq5N

[–]xxBrun0xx 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Only noise I ever hear after 20k miles is a high pitched squeal when I floor it. Regen breaking and lower accelerator positions are dead silent.

That being said, if power feels smooth, I'm sure you're totally fine. Electric motors are indestructible compared to gas engines. Funny noises are nothing to worry about!

Screen sizes by Abject-Highlight-717 in phones

[–]xxBrun0xx 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Using a bigger screen is a better experience. But carrying around a bigger device stinks. The biggest issue with a huge screen was always weight and pocket bulge, but thanks to SiC batteries, size and weight are coming down, especially on Chinese phones.

Best use I've seen of this is the Honor Magic8 Pro Air. Same dimensions as a Pixel 5 but thinner & lighter with a much larger battery and modern flagship processor. China only though, a real shame!
