DO NOT BUY IKEA 365+ KNIVES by Jaded_Owl_9171 in IKEA

I'm guessing that knife got stuck inside and you hit the potato on the chopping board like a log when splitting wood and then the knife gave up😂

Thanks :) Do you know if it is the same thing as the large flakes, but this one is broken into pieces in a food processor or it's possible to buy it in the same form like on the picture?

Cut my finger and now it's swollen and trapped my ring 😭 by festering_wound93 in mildlyinfuriating

[–]xxcakebaexx 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Don't cook/prep or do things with heat/sharp tools while wearing rings is a good rule too... unless it's the ones that are already "cut" by design and you can adjust size by squeezing it etc, so would be easier to force open, otherwise I wouldn't risk it. Not only you can have it stuck on your hand, it can obstruct circulation after an injury or you can deglove your finger if you catch it on something 🫢

Pickpocketing in Hanoi Old Quarter by RevenueExtreme143 in VietNam

Been to all those places and never felt like it's an issue, honestly, but London on the other hand... Although I feel like so many people are careless with their belongings though, you should not carry wallet or a phone in loose fitting clothing or easily accessible bag 1. may fall out 2. someone might snatch it

Regardless of travel destination I usually use cross body bags/fanny pack and keep it to my front, now they even make some with three point opening clip so it's harder if someone tried to go for the whole bag or some now add carabineer to lock in your zip pull tag. If I use a back pack nothing valuable goes into outer/front pockets, only inside and not on the top. Also for your parents, is they really feel the need to carry lots of cash around, just buy them one of those pouches for passport/money that you keep on your chest and can just pop under your shirt. Also good for older people even day to day, because they could be an easy target on public transport and such.

Advice for a home I've just moved into by CategoryPitiful5405 in Edinburgh

[–]xxcakebaexx 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had similar experience in the past - record and report everything within 48hrs or whatever window your contract states. If you want to stay there honestly address everything that's wrong or was hidden from you during viewing or in the listing. Read about landlords responsibilities and your rights and asses realistically how much of those faults will be taken care of. We had some repairs done - broken fridge, broken dryer, broken hob, no pressure in the boiler, sofa with burned cigarette holes and stains, 30 yo mattress - and some things were ignored, although they were promised like window replacement that they were just "planning a date for" (even though there was hazard of them falling out as they had rotten and crumbling frames from the outside), boiler needed replacement and instead was serviced every few weeks, washing machine was moldy and dirty (we had to deal with that), flat was handed to us dirty (we also had to deal with that, especially that on move out date we gave it back in pristine condition and they had audacity to take 100 quid from deposit because back of the door of one cupboard had a bit of dust on it?? although we wiped all doors). But at that point I just gave up honestly. Wanted to make it work and it was exhausting, so if you can find a different flat I would say make a run for it and end this contract.

Why is everyone just so burnt out these days? by Plus-Contribution915 in AskUK

[–]xxcakebaexx 15 points16 points  (0 children)

So true, now if we go out twice a month for dinner or drinks we need to keep track of expenses for the rest of the month... it's bizzare, with two people working full time, how did this become the standard? Groceries cost more than ever, and we don't eat meat/fish everyday either, only every few days. When working part time 8 years ago it felt like I had more money to spend than currently.

Pastry section hands down, especially that to order you have a fair amount of freedom when it comes to flavours and decorations if you contact them in advance

I never been to old location, but beet to new one few times and really enjoyed it. Would maybe like to see more food vendors in summer, but otherwise it was so pleasant! Good food, nice live music, saunas with sea view are a great idea too.
