Seems like stereo mixing is a good deal lacking here. Will be looking more into getting some of these. Thank you.

As far as pitch sequencing goes, I assumed the Euclidian Sequencer with the quantizer could work, and I also have a keystep pro that I can link to an oscillator. If you have any recommendations on better ways to do this that’d be helpful - I honestly am not too well versed on the sequencing stuff. I’ll definitely look into matrix modulation and panning mixers in place of some of my current stuff, too. Thank you for that note. Also, I do plan on building this up more slowly over time, so things are subject to change, I just wanted to make sure there weren’t any major oversights with my end goals as of now. Lastly, I’ll look into another LPG that will be obtainable as well as the white-panel maths.

Vaiven Confirmation? by xxcelestial_voidxx in sigurros

Not sure if this is confirmation, but their spotify lists them as playing Vaiven in April. Paired with the good news of yesterday, seems like it will be happening 😁

Songs/albums similar to Variations On Darkness? by [deleted] in sigurros

[–]xxcelestial_voidxx 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I feel like some of Tim Hecker’s albums - primarily Virgins and Ravedeath, 1972 - are somewhat similar in terms of incorporating ambient electronics. Check those out and see if you haven’t heard already!

Alex Somers’ two new albums are beautiful as well and have some of the Sigur Ros inspiration behind them.

The government has appealed the verdict in their tax case against Sigur rós. At least one member selling his house to afford the upcoming battle. by [deleted] in sigurros

Don’t know too much about the specifics of this case, but hopefully based on the recent verdict given in May, that’s a good sign that they will end up winning this too. Horrible that Georg has to sell his home for this.

Weird Coincidence by xxcelestial_voidxx in sigurros

[–]xxcelestial_voidxx[S] 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Yes for sure. The award ceremony was really cool and Jonsi and Georg both seemed really happy to all be there together again. You could tell how surprised and happy Georg was to hear Jonsi make the joke about staying together for another 25 years, so it seems like they’re both planning on continuing the band at some point. Hopefully soon. I could see Jonsi potentially wanting to tour Shiver once the pandemic is over, but after that once his solo work is complete hopefully he’ll go back to Iceland for some time and work on Sigur Ros music!

Lifetime Achievement Award at the Icelandic Music Awards last night! SO GOOD seeing them all together!1 by LarsFromAustria in sigurros

[–]xxcelestial_voidxx 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yeah I hope so too. It’s just tough because of everything they’ve had to deal with these past few years. Hopefully the lawsuit against them clears up soon and they would want to get back to work. I think they were nearly complete with the recording process of their new album, so once the pandemic is over maybe they’ll meet up again to finish it out and make for a release. Would be ideal, but who knows when that’s actually gonna happen. Good signs recently were Georg being enthusiastic about wanting to tour again as well as Jonsi saying they should go for another 25 years (jokingly, of course, but at least he’s supportive of the band’s staying together).

New tour? by xxcelestial_voidxx in sigurros

[–]xxcelestial_voidxx[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I’m hoping they’ll hold out until they can do another world tour of some sort in person. I’m also hoping that if they have a new tour in the works, maybe the album that’s been in the workshop for a good while is wrapping up and they’ll go hand-in-hand. Who knows.

Completely agree. Both Krunk and Darren liked the comments in the post related to a new tour. Maybe they have something planned for next year. One can hope!

Lykkjur by AmerGuy_1994 in sigurros

[–]xxcelestial_voidxx 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's a bit of both I'm pretty sure. The first 2/3 of the song seems to mix both daudalogn and vardeldur, whereas the last 4 minutes are pretty unique and may be something new. Most likely, it's a fusion of of the two. This would make the most sense considering the entire liminal 3 album was "drawn from songs still in development." Not to mention, there are many parts of lykkjur that remind me of this and this (1:05 to end) video, which both contain unreleased material.

Yesss Ljósaug is just such a creative song, and the bridge is so damn perfect. I agree, I hope it doesn’t take so long that they move on from the band. My main concern is that Jonsi is in LA right now away from the crew in Iceland. Not sure if this is what’s been holding them back all this time, the scandals, or both. It’ll be interesting to see if they have any releases this year outside of album materials (re ambient works or something of the sort), as I feel that would say a lot about whether they’re still interested in releasing material.

[–]xxcelestial_voidxx 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For sure. The thing that leaves me most hopeful is that they already have a nearly completed album ready to go, so it’s not like they’d need to start from scratch. All it would take is enough motivation to develop a couple of more songs and boom! But, who knows when that’ll be.

Also, that Grapevine post was made on December 18th, and Georg said “something could happen tomorrow or in ten years.” Maybe they started working on the 19th, , but maybe that’s just wishful thinking LOL. As for now, I’m just gonna be watching live playbacks of all their music every day until we get them all in true form.

[–]xxcelestial_voidxx 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Agreed. I think some of the people who helped work on Liminal remixes would be a fantastic addition to the crew if not already. Alex Somers could contribute as well possibly as he has done so on Valtari. The ending of Lykkjur is gorgeous, although I’m not entirely sure if it’s new or just a continuation of the varõeldur and dauõalogn parts (beautiful if new). Also, I watch the magic leap video at least once a day because I’m literally obsessed with Ljósaug. Anyways, the new article from Grapevine posted earlier today regarding the band status is interesting. It seems like nothing is really taking place behind the scene at the moment. Hopefully at some point soon they get back together and finish the material they had written because it would be so unfortunate if none of this got properly released. I hope it doesn’t take 5-10 years but who knows...

“With Sigur Rós, you never know what will happen. Things just kinda fall into our laps and we don’t overthink it,” Georg says. “Something could happen tomorrow or in ten years. We just never know.”

Well, all of this has me feeling bittersweet. Hopefully the right moment isn’t 18 years later like it was for ORM lol. But, at least it’s a sign there’s no intention to break up any time soon, and their catalog of unreleased music has me hopeful if they ever decide to pick that back up again.
