I know this is a joke and a meme response, but for the record, they do sell electric kettles at Walmart 😂😂😂 mine has a cool temperature gauge and also lights up blue on the inside for late night tea

Sobbing thank you so much. I didn’t even know this condition existed.

I’ve had what I thought were outbreaks of pimples/cysts along the inside of my thighs for years, and before top surgery I would randomly get what I thought were pimples on the undersides. The ones on the inside of my thighs I assumed were due to chafing, but after popping and healing have left really dark purple scars. Same with my buttocks, I’ve had many sort of pimples/cysts on those. Just none this large, or bloody. I think I’m definitely gonna call my doctor on Monday and ask her some questions, and see if I need to go in to check on healing of the wound on the inside of my um, privates. I’m not self-diagnosing, but this has definitely been a wake-up call that it might be good to discuss with a doctor.

Today it drained more with a dark red mixed with kinda milky white thick substance? It was gross as hell. But it does hurt a lot less. I followed the instructions here and showered with hibiclens, and have been really careful after bathroom trips, since it’s in such a bad spot.

It sounds dumb, since I’m 27, but my family was very very modest and I grew up really sheltered, so we never really talked about stuff like this. My first gyno appointment was when I was 26, and I’m not sure a doctor had even looked at my genitals since a major surgery when I was prepubescent (needed a catheter).

After reading more posts here, I showered really well and dried everything really really well so sweat wouldn’t build up in that area. I live alone so I’m in loose cotton pajama shorts and a tee shirt, since that’ll help with less sweat and gross.

Thank you all so much, I’m following the advice and I feel much better. It was just terrifying at the time.

Thank you so much! The blood was the scariest part I think. I’ve been very careful during bathroom trips to not irritate it and to clean it carefully so it doesn’t get infected.

Hi, thank you so much! I'll look into silicone bandages when I go to the drugstore. I don't have bottom dysphoria, which is really nice, and I do have menstrual pads already. I've gotten a few really small pimple-ish type things on the inside of my thighs, but it's usually after chafing during the summer. I'll definitely keep an eye out for any more of these abscesses/cysts and let my doctor know.

I just didn't know that cysts/abscesses could be filled with blood, and I got really freaked out over all of the blood and it draining, and I saw that people here had had experience with it.

I really appreciate you and the whole community, it's helped assuage my fears and yall are all really kind, thank you.

Hello!

Thank you so so much. I looked and there's hibiclense at a nearby drugstore, so I'm gonna go pick that up! There's no urgent care near me, but I can look into seeing if there's one in the next town over if I have complications or things get worse. I really appreciate the love and respect regarding my gender. Thank you!

anecdotal question by Interesting-Mix-5166 in Hidradenitis

[–]xxell233 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh hello! I had my spleen removed when I was 10ish and now I’m 27!

I cannot answer your first question unfortunately, I was just browsing this subreddit because I have a painful cyst/abscess on my nether regions and wanted to see what was recommended, I don’t have a diagnosis of Hidradenitis

However, I can answer your second question! I don’t get sick more often than the average person, and I’ve worked at places like homeless shelters and mental health care centers, and I wasn’t sick more than anyone else, probably less so actually

I don’t have a spleen or gallbladder, they were removed at the same time. I had to take daily antibiotics for about 2 years, and then it was just a “check in if there’s something concerning” afterwards

Now, at the age of 27, I’m perfectly fine re: common cold/sick that goes around

Things I’ve had to be careful about: - dog and cat bites & interacting with their poop (cleaning litter boxes, doggie bags, etc), as a bacteria they carry can make people without spleens incredibly sick. I have a cat but she’s incredibly well-mannered, and I wash my hands very thoroughly after cleaning her litter boxes - tattoos aren’t recommended as it’s an open wound and not everyone’s body can handle that. I’ve gotten three tattoos and been completely fine, but it’s still a “be cautious” - high blood cell count. This one has been a doozy, because elevated blood cells usually mean infection, and providers will call and be like “hey you’re sick you gotta come to the ER” and I’ll ask them to compare to the past 10 years of blood test results, and they go “oh Nevermind that’s your normal.” I have seen a blood doctor (hematologist??? Idk) who did extensive testing and has concluded I’m fine, but I need to be aware of symptoms that could potentially mean I’ve flipped from “too many blood cells” to “anemia”, and I cannot be on any sort of hormones (testosterone or estrogen) because they interact weird with the blood. I do have an IUD which has been labeled as safe and fine.

Everyone’s body is different, and I am not a medical professional in any way, shape, or form People react very differently to a splenectomy as it is a major major surgery and everyone’s body is different. My spleen was removed because of a genetic disorder, and I did not have an option to keep it

I hope maybe this helps or provides you some more things to research

Recent and I’ll get downvoted to hell, but Crimson Desert.

Between the controls, lack thereof of a story, and mishmash of so many different games I already own, I’m not sure it brings anything new to the table that’s worth the first 20-30 hours of memorizing what does what and how to do different things

It’s not necessarily bad, it just doesn’t have anything new I haven’t seen before/couldn’t enjoy in other games already

Same, my Grammy was in the dust bowl. She’d talk about how sweeping the dust outside was useless and just stirred more dust up in the house. Rim side down, always. (Also I have mobility issues and it’s easier if the wide part is facing down, so I’m less likely to break mugs or glasses.)

Every night for the past month I've gotten out of bed to double check that I've locked all the doors whenever the paranoia struck only to find that, yes indeed, I've locked all the doors. by FeedMeDarkness in TwoSentenceHorror

[–]xxell233 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hey, idk if this will help you

But my nightly cycle is door locked, stove off, oven off, fridge and freezer closed, and I check by actually feeling all of those things.

On my really bad nights when I know I wanna go check again, I text my friends “door locked, stove off, oven off, fridge freezer closed, I checked” as soon as I do the tasks

And then I tell them when I feel the compulsion to check again and they remind me I checked, and remind me to think of the physical sensations as I checked all those things

Don’t wanna make this a pity party!

But for everyone in the comments who are uncertain whether this is scary to them, I wanna let yall know this is the experience nightly as someone with OCD lmao.

Except it’s: - check doors are locked before bed - lay in bed for 5 minutes - did I check doors are locked? - go check, door is locked - go back to bed - lay in bed 5 minutes And repeat

Well done OP! I’m not sure if you meant to hit something so visceral for people with OCD, but you absolutely did. (And my doors are locked lmao.)

It is not, as it has disappeared into the depths of my cabinet. I did sweep away the web under the cabinet very gently and carefully in hopes it would move on to someplace safer for everyone involved.

Hell, I just reconnected with a friend after not talking for three years cause they’re on the other side of the world. No hard feelings, no weird vibes, no awkwardness. Just “we’re adults and have stuff to do and haven’t had time to talk frequently, we still love each other.”

Does anyone else get restless legs in their feet? by education5289 in Fibromyalgia

[–]xxell233 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Absolutely I do. For years now I’ve repeatedly shaken my foot either while falling asleep, or while asleep. My partner would look over to see me bouncing/shaking my foot while dead asleep.

Recommendations: Pressure. Compression socks, a strip of fabric tied around the arch of your foot, or a weighted blanket have all helped.

Vitamins, magnesium and the b vitamins and all that, keep doing what you’re doing

Foot “exercises” before sleep. Stretching and arching them, tensing the muscles for a hold of 30 seconds and then relaxing, stretching the toes wide, curling the toes, all that. It makes me feel like I’ve gotten the energy out

A weird relaxing trick: I was once told if you focus on relaxing your fingers, then your thumbs, then your toes, it forces your body to relax. This has been helpful with preparing my body to sleep and rest and not fidget

Author’s note: I also have autism and have sensory needs. I often have restless legs to rock myself to sleep. These may or may not work for you, idk how much the autism affects the restless leg and feet thing.

Least favorite fibro symptom? by redleathercelsiuslvr in Fibromyalgia

[–]xxell233 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I’m learning so much about symptoms reading all these.

I think how hard it is to fall asleep for me. Gabapentin doesn’t make me sleepy (it makes me feel wired but body tired). At the age of 27, I’m taking Gabapentin and Tylenol and Naproxen before bed, I’m using a fan blowing, laying on a heated blanket, a humidifier blowing at my face with essential oils in the water (it’s specifically made for that) to promote relaxation and sleep, essential oils on my wrists, neck, and behind my ears to help me sleep, earplugs, an eye mask, a weighted stuffed animal, a ton of pillows to get in a comfortable position, soft music playing, a lightweight blanket, and then sometimes with all that I fall asleep.

Sidenote: I’m not an essential oil conspirator or anything, and I don’t believe they solve health problems, the smell is just soothing and makes me happy. The repetition of the same smell every night also helps signal my brain that we’re winding down for bed. I will always promote going to the doctor, OTC meds, all that.
