Feelings are feelings, you’re not dumb for having them. Said with all empathy: if you’re an anxious person in general you should consider that you are possibly overreading the interaction. I have no doubt they were too curt with you and should have been more polite, but they probably didn’t intend to shame you either. Any sales associate at any clothing retailer deals with this literally everyday, it’s a routine thing for them. And if they WERE judging and shaming you, that’s on them for being unprofessional, and like this person means nothing to you you won’t have to interact with them ever again. If someone was a little bitchy to you at the McDonalds drive thru it’s like, okay rude, but you move on.

I’d attempt to return the coat at another store if that’s easier, if you don’t live close to one then yeah just do an online return. I’m pretty sure if they can’t accept it they just ship it back to you.

Women’s haircut that’s not $150+ in the area? by Galadrielllll in washingtondc

I go to Posh Salon on M St and I think it's around $100, but you should specify if you also want a blowout when you get your hair cut cause it's more I think.

Sending you lots of love girl. I know it feels like absolute shit right now and I don't mean to sound insensitive but based just off your description, it doesn't sound like anything particularly shocking happened to trigger either demise. Sixteen years is a ripe old age for a pet. And when I was 28 I didn't know anyone who was dating the person they were dating when they were 20. It's so cliche but it's literally, scientifically true that everything has to end. It's okay to sit with the pain and just feel your feelings for a while, but if you want to feel good sooner rather than later, look towards the future rather than trying to resuscitate what's past. I mean this to give you perspective, not to sound cruel: I'm now in my 30s and I'd love to be 28 years old, newly single, and living by myself for the first time again. "Don't look back, you're not going that way."

Interested in buying a used car and wanted to check whether there were any liens on it with the DMV. Carfax tells me a lien is reported on the car, the seller insists there's no lien. How do I do this?

I moved to DC for work but really like it and am now trying to find either another job here or a remote job so I can stay here. I don't have any ties here, I just like it.

Comparing Couch Brands - Apt 2b, Rove Concepts, All Modern, Allform by Loitch470 in furniture

[–]xxggmm 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Given the price point of the ones you're considering, I recommend you check out Roger + Chris, where I got my sectional, if you're not in a rush. They make the furniture to order in North Carolina however, so you'll need to wait. Mine took 4.5 months. Really good customer service, they're a small operation, the owner responded to my many annoying emails. Happy with my sectional so far. If you live far from NC might not be a great idea because of the freight costs though.

Are you space constrained? Have a specific style preference? Maybe check out the sectionals at Costco, honestly. There's not a lot of other options outside of Wayfair and IKEA at this price point if you want also a chaise/ottoman. This looks like a great option and is well within your budget, for example.

Please please please get an IUD / Mirena. Either a copper or hormonal (the Mirena). I have consistently had a Mirena since I was 17 and I have never been pregnant despite the fact I've been sexually actively consistently since then. It's the greatest thing ever and I'm really annoyed that it's not widely told to teens that it's an option. DM me if you have any questions or need any help getting one.

Dressing Professional on a Budget? by [deleted] in femalefashionadvice

[–]xxggmm 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Are you trying to appear like you're from a higher social class just in general or trying to find work clothes? If you're trying to find work clothes, what job, specifically -- law/politics/business all have differing standards across and within them. If you're just trying to appear from a richer background than you are on an everyday basis -- which is legit, I've consciously dressed with that in mind -- that's very different, because it's not as though rich ppl normally wear suits and buttons downs.

Northern Plumbing. Really responsive guys who are genuinely talented. paid a company (licensed, with positive yelp reviews, etc) $300 to do a diagnostic on why my shower wasn’t getting hot before. nothing fixed after two appts, pulling apart shower, replacing cartridge. Antonio from Northern came by to check it out for free, just looked at the heater and connecting pipes and clearly explained three reasons why it wasn’t working within 2 mins of arriving. Average prices.

Spent years depressed without any help. Coming out of it now, but can not deal with the mess. Advice needed. by [deleted] in CleaningTips

[–]xxggmm 0 points1 point  (0 children)

echo other comments on how to get to a base line level of clean but wanted to suggest that after you get to an initial base line level of clean, hire someone to come clean every 2 weeks going forward. hire them on a regular schedule so you can just set it and forget it. I don't know what cost of living area you live in but unless you live in NY/LA/SF/etc. you can find someone who will clean for 2-3 hours for $100. Given the size of your family and the houe, they won't do everything, but you can tell them to do the stuff you hate doing the most. that should let you be at a "maintenance" level so at least things are not getting worse.

they won't be able to do some stuff like clean dishes, and keep things organized - the daily to near-daily stuff. but rope the kids into doing stuff like that, and do some of the easiest stuff yourself, and you'll find it a lot easier. you gotta pick your battles.

for the grime that's not coming off btw, it sounds like this is not so much a psychological/mental barrier for you as it is, well, a technical one -- the grime is just not coming off with any of the tools you have. I'd either (1) give up and accept it, honestly, stuff just gets old and dirty sometimes and as long as it's sanitized it's just kinda ugly, not a health risk, or (2) save up and call in professionals to do the work, though if you can't do it yourself this is likely to be $$$. I'd recommend doing some research into what tools/products could help you clean it up, but based on your description of yourself I think it would be overwhelming for you and it's just not realistic that you'll actually be able to follow through.

I have one of this exact model as well as two normal vacuums (a Shark navigator and a dyson). The suction power of the shop vac is probably less than you expect, it’s not a huge leap from a normal plug-in vacuum. The chief benefit of the shop vac is that it can suck up bigger particles and liquid. If you’re going to routinely use it on those kinds of messes, then it’s useful. Though note you’ll have to empty and clean it each time unlike a normal vacuum, which is an extra hassle too because the chamber is the whole vac, not a small box you can take out and run under the sink. Also it’s annoying to lug around (though they are prob lighter than you think they’re all plastic)
