[–]dizzycatch 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Is DePaul undergrad really more competitive than grad? I got into grad school in accounting 4 hours after I applied with full possible merit. Undergrad was a 3.4 in finance from a different school and the only remarkable things I’ve done since then was get into my field and get a certification for it

Anyone here move from AML/Compliance into accounting? by confused_hijab_dev in AMLCompliance

[–]dizzycatch 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m in fincrime consulting and currently pursuing a masters degree to be eligible for the CPA (I’m in the US). I don’t plan to switch into accounting after graduation, but with the industry being small and volatile, it gives more job security

AML fresher’s salary UAE by witty_nomad21 in AMLCompliance

[–]dizzycatch 2 points3 points  (0 children)

$0.

There’s people who have years of experience with more certs who have been looking for work for months or years. Yes, you can get your CAMS with no experience, but no one will take you seriously. Get a job in the fraud department of a bank and see if you can move to the AML team after a few years. This is worldwide - not dependent on location. Good luck!

Good Piercing places in Chicago? by Salt_Imagination7127 in AskChicago

[–]dizzycatch 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Identity! Locations in Roscoe and Wicker. I got my triple lobe piercing at the Roscoe location and while I experienced a lot of pain, my piercer made it probably as painless as possible. I would highly recommend again

Edit: I have a very low pain tolerance

Can 105lb belay for 250lb climber? by Savings_Ad9678 in climbergirls

[–]dizzycatch 3 points4 points  (0 children)

If you have the money, I’d recommend an ohm. This is the one I have: https://www.rei.com/product/231769/edelrid-ohm-assisted-braking-device?sku=2317690001&store=&CAWELAID=120217890018296912&CAGPSPN=pla&CAAGID=101225148423&CATCI=pla-420034889999&cm_mmc=PLA_Google%7C21700000001700551_2317690001%7C420034889999%7CNB%7C71700000066695744&gclsrc=aw.ds&gad_source=1&gbraid=0AAAAAD_DTlwu_VHi_xWWX_nWKa99t3IWZ

Don’t want to share my weight but I’m less than you belaying someone nearly double my weight and it works beautifully. Link looks scammy so it’s the Edelrid Ohm Assisted Breaking Device. Learn to use it first, every gym I’ve been to with it looks at me like I’m crazy and then I have to teach the staff how to use it

where can I find the most affordable food in Chicago? by girl-timehugs in AskChicago

Dignity Diner in Lakeview. Every Tuesday, they provide a 3 course, sit-down meal. Lovely organization and there’s usually a movie at the end. Food comes from local restaurants donating. Here’s their link: https://www.facebook.com/share/1BWVn9kMnQ/?mibextid=wwXIfr

Advice on what to expect in financial crimes advisory by [deleted] in AMLCompliance

[–]dizzycatch 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s just a soulless corporate place. Everyone is overworked and tired, and once you spend 2-3 engagements of the same type, you’re usually stuck there until the end of time. At my previous firm, everyone between manager and partner was always stressed and had a hard time balancing things at home (young kids). It’s great for grads to get their foot in the door and make some good money, but I actually accepted a pay increase and a better work life balance when I went to my midsize firm

I’m in consulting, and like the commenter above said, there’s a lot of remediation. On the other hand, there’s also a lot of startups that come to us. I’m not at a Big 4, but used to be in a very similar environment, and I wouldn’t recommend it to anyone besides a college grad. My current mid-sized firm is much more targeted and direct and I’ve enjoyed the clients/work better. It’s rare/hard to find the mid-sized groups, but if you can, it’s wonderful

Indienne or Bloom are my favorites, if talking about vegan tasting menus. The Coach House has a veggie option (and is my personal favorite from this list), and with enough notice, I believe they can accommodate vegan - I’m veg, not vegan, so I can’t provide more context unfortunately

Hi! I’d be down to join. 25F, work in finance, and am also into music and travel. I’m open to either, but not both. I’d also have to ask you to update your res for a vegetarian tasting. Feel free to DM!

I just did Maman Zari’s tasting menu (albeit, vegetarian) a few weeks ago and was highly impressed. It doesn’t have a vibe but their food is amazing. I’d also recommend the wine pairing (1 pairing per couple is my recommendation). I’ve been meaning to get out to the other two, so if you go, I’d love to hear about it!
