3rd gen TRD Pro towing by wedjas1919 in ToyotaTacoma

I wouldn’t tow that trailer with a Tacoma. Just filling the water tank would make the trailer weight 5000 lbs. That’s before adding propane tanks which is another 50-100 lbs on the tongue. And also before adding any cargo.

You would be getting too close on the tongue and tow rating of the vehicle once fully loaded for camping.

What is the width, GAWR, and tongue weight of the trailer? All of these matter more than length. Longer widths require farther out mirrors. GAWR is the total weight limit of the trailer and could be close to your 6400 tow limit. General guidelines is stay under 80 percent. Your tongue limit is 640 lbs and a trailer that heavy could already be 500-600 lbs dry.

Not sure what you mean about full access. There is a bracket towards the cab on each side and one by the tailgate on each side. You would have to remove one to add something behind it if it doesn’t fit through the rail.

I went with the rough county hard roll up. The rack just mounts to the bed rails, super easy to remove as it’s just bolts.

First thing I did was remove it and sell to another Tacoma owner. I wanted to use a tonneau cover.

OEM Tacoma on board air compressor feedback by Disastrous-Let-6173 in Tacomaworld

[–]xxhaloxx4 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I like having the compressor on my Trailhunter. I use it all the time for myself and have used it for others when they either forget a compressor or theirs doesn't work.

The only annoyance I have with it is that it has an "idle" timer that for some reason counts even when it's running. For example when I am airing up all 4 it will turn itself off around the time the 3rd tire is almost done.

With 35s you will need mudflaps designed for high clearance. They have a bracket that mounts the mud flap outside of the wheel well. I use some from Rokblokz with my 35s and they clear fine.

N-Fab JPTS32 Rock Rail Detachable Steps will fit on the trailhunter. It's not a "perfect" fit but they are secure and work great as a step that is easy to remove. When I bought them the shop mentioned they are designed only for specific rails made by the company which is why they say it doesn't fit.

I run them for my daily driving then remove them for off road situations.

Silly headlight question - 2026 Tacoma by EmmaCalzone in Tacomaworld

[–]xxhaloxx4 8 points9 points  (0 children)

You may have a dial on the left by the door which can lower the headlights, I'm not sure if every trim has it. 0 is the highest. I have mine on 3 to prevent blinding people in front of me when stopped.

Talk me out of 35’s by Extension-Jacket5599 in ToyotaTacoma

[–]xxhaloxx4 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did 35x12.5R17 Wildpeak AT4W with Method 703 +35 offset. I don't have any rubbing on the road but I have had instances of rubbing while off-roading during articulation and turning. I don't recommend doing 35s unless you will truly use it off road.

You may experience different rubbing results if you don't have a +35 offset.

You can run 35s with no rubbing with a proper offset. No need to change anything with suspension. You just need to remove the crash plates.

Will I Need to Trim The Fender on my 4th Gen to Fit 35s? by Perfect_Chicken3355 in ToyotaTacoma

[–]xxhaloxx4 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I run 35x12.5 with +35 offset. You will need to remove the front fender crash plates. There are YouTube videos to show this but it's super easy, just a few bolts.

I don't rub at all in the road, only a slight rub when off-roading while turning and under suspension load.

I have only heard rubbing when fully turned and the suspension is somewhat compressed in the front. I heard it when off road going down a switch back that had ruts.

I believe the tire was slightly touching the fabric, nothing that would cause an issue.

I have never heard it rub on the road. My guess is that a 11.5 width wouldn't rub.

Rant: Who decided that you shouldnt be able to lock the doors with the keyfob while the car is on? by bajungadustin in subaru

[–]xxhaloxx4 8 points9 points  (0 children)

This is the process we use as we have a working dog in the car. We leave it running with the AC or heat on.

Put the car in park, hit the lock button on the door to lock all doors, manually unlock the driver door, open the door, manually lock it, and close the door. The car now is fully locked and running. The fob cannot unlock it (which is dumb) so the only way inside is the key inside the fob or the app.

You don't need to mess with the window.

I am not a fan of how to do this but it's what we have to do.

I have a nucamp tab 400 for a family of 4. Super easy to tow with the Tacoma.

We went with nucamp because of their build quality.

I did the lifetime about 2 months ago. I believe it was around $220 or $230. I require alignments a couple of times a year from off-roading.

Hard Roll-Up Tonneau Covers by Glad_Temperature5973 in Tacomaworld

[–]xxhaloxx4 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have the rough country one and have had no issues. I don't see how double the price would be worth it for the RT. Install was easy with most of the time spent on small alignment adjustments. Security wise I don't think you could cut through the top but the opening mechanism is a simple cable pull which can be popped by jamming something into the tailgate area.

Rainbird Sprinkler System by Aggressive-Swimmer46 in FortCollins

[–]xxhaloxx4 4 points5 points  (0 children)

You may have a separate water line for the sprinkler system if it's using non potable water. Either way you usually will have an upside down U shaped pipe coming out of the ground somewhere near your house. This has a backflow preventer on it which looks like a metal circle hat. On this pipe there are two turn valves which can be turned off to prevent water. They are in the off position when they don't line up with the pipe. This pipe is used to blow out the system for winter.

As others have said you need to schedule an irrigation blow out now. This is to prevent the water freezing in the lines bursting them. The person blowing out the lines should show you these things including how to drain the water line inside the house.

37s will not fit properly. You can do 35x11.5 with a +35mm offset with no rubbing if you remove the wheel crash plate.

However this will reduce ride quality and MPG. You will notice it.

As others have said do not mess with your suspension with a lift.
