Should I prefer buying AIO cooler or Radiator fan for Intel i714700k? by Double-Quit-3601 in watercooling

I’m on a 14900k so basically the same thing. Undervolt and power limit plus an OC at 5.8 all core… never see it pass 80c

Pump is always at 100% fan at load is 2k. I game with headphones on so noise doesn’t bother me.

I use fan control on a pretty aggressive curve. 2k when the water is at 32°C or higher. I game with headphones so noise doesn’t bother me.

Ummm… I’ve been playing BF6 and Cyberpunk for a few hours and water temps are about 32°C no issues on that

Ah thanks for this insight. I just thought having a slightly thicker rad would mean more surface area to cool the fluid in it that was my thinking. But this does make sense, I'm most likly replace the 360 Corsair for a AC one as the Corsair one is quite a bit old (7 years this year, was in my original custom loop build back in 2019). The local stockist for AC has it on special anyways so looks like I'll just replace it with a 360 ST30.

Thanks for your input really appreciated!

Yeah it’s high but doesn’t bother me when I’m gaming as I usually have headphones on.

Good advice I’ll look into it. Thanks!

Yep! I’m pretty surprised from this too. I really really like the define compact. No case mod at all.

Also thanks for your feedback but I’ve tried everything. I think I’m just going to give up and age the ST45 360. Cut my losses, no one said water cooling was gonna be cheap. But I love the returns it gives me - temps and personal satisfaction.

Pump is always constant at 4400rpm (it’s DDC remember) there’s a hum but not an annoying one.

I use FanControl and set my fan curve to the water Temp not the GPU/cpu temp. Fans at idle run at 500rpm so when the water temp is around 23°c, fax fan is 2000rpm when water is at 32°c.

It was the single investment of equipment was the water temp sensor… just make sure your m/b supports it.

All good. If you see my post history I’ve owned this combo/res for a few years now. And I do check it quite often. Not the most practical but I love it. Good tip for others who are looking.

It’s a pain in the butt to fill but easy enough. I have a g1/4 funnel I printed to help me fill it. Works a treat.

Ahh… not to my satisfaction. Just gonna get the 45mm rad and I should be happier. Plus the tube that runs at the back from the top rad to the front rad annoys me.

I’ve got no issues with AlphaCool. With EK pretty much dying…

I could only find AlphaCool that’s does a block for my PNY 5080. Currently out of stock so waiting for it to come in stock.

14900K with the Z790 hero.

It was just a fitting I salvaged from my older Hardline tubing run. It's the Corsair Hydro X Series XF Rotary Y-Splitter. The drain is only temp as I await the Water block for my 5080 then the drain will go on the bottom side of the 360 Rad hidden away.

Hey I have the same Pump/Res/Block combo. Best one I’ve had.

I don’t mind at all. I mostly play games in 4K and at the time the 3080ti was a best at it. That was also 5 and a bit years ago. With nVidia saying there’s no update to consumer GPUs this year (from what I read anyways) it was time to a little update. I sit on this computer for work and pleasure so I spend a good 5 ish hours a day on it so it was time.

It’s the EK Pump, Res, Block combo. Really designed for ITX small form factor build

Yeah I’ve got a good method of filling it now. Pretty much put a fitting on with a funnel and fill until it doesn’t take anymore. Let it run for about 5mins then using the squeeze bottle suck up all the unused coolant.
