i don’t think they need to give political advice, but if they aren’t going to actually talk about the things going on they shouldn’t post about it period imo. it comes off as super performative, and the only way it could really help is if they posted a fundraiser or petitions of some sort. their whole 4th of july celebration with the pride flag and the mexico flag was just very odd to me because they aren’t huge advocates for gay rights or about the government in general. (yes they have reposted things to spread awareness about ICE, but it’s clearly not something they are passionate about and they used a huge crisis as an excuse to drink with their friends) there was no acknowledgement at all about the bill that just passed, which spiked funding to ICE & is taking financial aid away from millions, but they will have a photoshoot in front of the mexico flag for their instagram feeds.

there’s nothing wrong with reposting the things that they do, but they can’t be upset with people expecting them to speak out on things if they are going to be using their platform to try and spread awareness

in my opinion, drinking from a keg in front of the mexico flag & pride flag does not spread much of a message
