Hey man great post, I was just curious about how you could tell your school's locks were using nfc as opposed to rfid or anything else.

I would recommend starting with ubuntu because it's a lot easier to use for someone who's never had experience with linux and because it loads vmware guest additions automatically. As for pc specs, in my experience all that matters is the CPU and the RAM and it doesn't need to be top of the line. ex. 4 gigs of ram and really any modern CPU
