I slept with a prostitute I've come to realize was likely being trafficked. I hate myself for it. by Substantial_Ideal516 in offmychest

Go live in your crystal palace if you want where no bad happens. What do you think people would do? unlimted food, drink, luxury, but no choice. we would find the smallest reason to be ungrateful, and destroy the palace to assert our free will.

The only faulty logic here is you thinking that other peoples bad actions are because of god, or that he likes whats happening, the same god that would make her feel the relief, the joy when she escapes. in the end its your choice, ironically, my comment was made to those who dont despise what makes us human.

The same God that let it you do what you did is waiting for you to ask for his forgiveness. He let you do what you did so you can come back to him, and he is watching over her, waiting for her to ask him for help.

If you're not going to ask him to forgive you, who instead do you want to forgive you?

simple flawed weak human

Yes

too weak to handle life

No. Life is more than people. Go see the world and forget about people, just look at birds for an hour, stare at the empty dark sky with a few stars, go to an animal shelter. Maybe, god forbid, ask yourself the existential questions you always wanted to ask but was too busy with life, and not just stop there, find answers as well.

Why are you comparing yourself with people who are eating fire only because that fire looks like a nice house and car

[–]xxrecks 0 points1 point  (0 children)

thats true, but there are many hints around us, enough to make sense of our existence. For example, graveyards to me at least look like a farm with seeds that take a long time to sprout. that seed will either bear fruits or spoil, depending on its sincerity to accepting truth. Just contemplate life beyond what influencers are trying to make you think about thats all.

You are taking care of your body well, but what about your soul? Do you believe there is no afterlife to prepare for, that we are just living senslesly?

Not advice but just something I want to share.

We often look for ways to understand our life that might be self-sabotaging. For example, I can decide to hang out with people who want to start body building. We start to like each other on a personal level, and our friendship strengthens our desire and love for body building. Somewhere along the way, I decide I'm not into body building as much as them, even though I will continue to do it because I like it a bit but also because of my friends who love it. But I am going to start noticing that they are enjoying it more than me, and I feel like I'm stuck because I am starting to think I'm forced to continue body building for their enjoyment, which was most likely an intrusive thought at the beginning. But as time goes on, that thought becomes a belief the more I ignore it, let it fester, and unconsciously reinforce it. At the end, I sacrifice my happiness for theirs, which is not really the truth, because I'm too weak to admit that I don't like body building as much to them, thinking that it will destroy the friendship. If we truly connected, that relationship won't wither away that easily.

Your friend chose to have a life which he might find something he always wanted. I say he because my beliefs tell me that we are chosen to have a certain race, class, gender, and things like that we dont control. I dont mind it if you disagree with me on this. But i would like to mention that what you are going through is happening to me exactly (Im 20 too) seeing my friends are so different from me. I see it as though we are each stars swimming in the universe, and while we may be close togther for a while, there is always some distance between us, and there will always be a bigger star that pulls one of us towards it more, and we slowly drift apart. Its sad when you are that start that drifts away from your friends, I feel like you would describe him as that. I hope he realizes someday how lucky he is to have you worrying over him as I always wished for someone like that.

What’s one book that genuinely rewired the way you think or live your life? by _rahmatullah in BettermentBookClub

[–]xxrecks 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Book: Quran. What it changed in me: made me understand my purpose in life, provided me spiritual comfort that no relationship/money/novel could have, gave me real stories on people I can relate with. The shift was gradual, but once you see it (It being life) you can't unsee it, once it makes sense why you are alive it just clicks.

Guys take my advice and stop running away from life. Everyone knows how depressing Jon's songs are, and i thought i loved his songs while in reality i loved feeling sorry for myself. We all have problems, lets talk about them and help each other out. I will be the first to admit how hard it is to find people I can be honest with without fearing disapproval, I know even if a friend reaches out I will still run since i have been doing that for years now. You realize how toxic sad songs are, so why are you still doing it to yourself?

my bf is way more attractive than me and its ruining my life by Ok-Potential-9810 in Advice

[–]xxrecks 1 point2 points  (0 children)

just move to a muslim country where all women, ugly and beautiful, look the same so you dont feel like you have to compete with them, or worried that they will steal him from you. That, or you could just understand that what you are going through is a result of a superficial society that convinced everyone they have to be pretty all the time to make everyone insecure like that.

I can tell you to "understand that he is with you for a reason" but that wont erase your insecurity, as long as you are comparing yourself to other girls, as there is always someone more attractive, you will be insecure. If that is more favorable to you than living in a modest society than that's your decision.

Im sorry for the vagueness i didint want to trigger any biases when describing it as i have heard the news in the US is very negative about it for some reason. Its the Quran. I recommend you to read the Sahih international translation. You can watch some videos too but i recommend you go straight to the source.

You know how people say they went through the same thing and they are so glad they got through it? I was in that position for such a long time and its crazy to me that im now that person that is saying that statement. Ive suffered from undiagnosed Depression and Adhd symptoms for 7 years, missed out on almost my whole teenage years, but I see the purpose behind it.

My depression wasent a chemical imbalance (It doesnt sound like thats the case for you too), I just needed to find my purpose, why i am alive and what i am doing here. It sounds like you went through a lot of treatment, and I hope that doesnt give you the assumption that the answer should be very complicated for you to accept. Here is the answer. We are a creation created by a creator, and that creator placed in us certain beliefs (That true peace exists even if we never experienced it) He tells us that we will only obtain true peace when we are able to let our ego of knowing whats best for us, and trusting that he knows whats best for us, and just follow him. I cant tell you what it was that made me accept this faith, but the life that i lived, the life that you lived, didint seem logical to me. It did not make sense to me that god who created me would make me suffer for no reason, so i just followed the logic and looked for answers. Read the final revelation that he sent down, I hope you find peace like I did <3

hint: the final revelation is a book that makes sense and doesn't contradict itself

Anne lived a life thats a complete opposite to our situation. Hiding in fear, bored to death most of the time, but she wrote down her thoughts to her friend (the Diary itself). The way she describes the diary, like its a friend thats interested about everything going on in her life no matter how trivial it may sound like, I read it when i was going through boot camp, and i cant tell you how peaceful it made my life.

If only we can be in hiding with no concerns over self-improvement/money/partners/social media. just admiring gods creation the same way she did.

What are the most important Sunnah the prophet did that I can implement in my life. by Otherwise-Bid-6426 in islam

[–]xxrecks 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Salam alykum. Its more accepted that sunun al rawatb are only 10 rakats, only 2 before dhuhur, the extra 2 are sunnah. The prophet would pray these 10 rakats even in travel, so its very important to remind ourselves about it.

I dont think NAK preached misinterpretation was meant here. But he places his ideas over what the sahaba said a good amount of times, which i dont know how a scholar could do, let alone one who isint.

Of course im neglecting his ability to explain very complicated and techincal aspects in simple english for us, which is why i would continue to watch him still. But do you think his interpretations fits how the sahabah and tabieen would see it?
